If you can't do a 3-5 day trip with a bag that fits in the trunk of the Elio, you might be a clothes-horse. ;) :D
Or you might need to learn to do laundry in your motel bathtub, or maybe a coin-operated laundromat. If it's just you, you pack for 4 days, plus the clothes you're wearing; if you're bringing a plus-one, then you both pack for two days. Every two days (or four days), you do a quick wash-n-rinse in the tub; every 6 or 8 days you splurge on a laundromat. This works even if you're on a business trip, doing person-to-person visits to your clients.

(And if you can't segue interest in your funny-looking fuel-efficient car into interest in your product, MAYBE you need to review your sales technique...)

The ELIO is long enough, and I am hoping the ergonomic engineers are thinking of this too.
With a proper seat configuration, the front seat needs to full recline, it might become a comfortable bed.
Enough said.
It doesn't need to be a full recline to be a "comfortable bed." Ask anyone who's taken "a quick nap before bed" on their Barcalounger.

As for the storage, there is none above the wheel, that's where the wheel goes when you hit a bump. But there do appear to be "indentations" in the body work, probably for strength and support, that might be used for storage in desperation.

THOSE COULD MAKE NICE LITTLE CUBBIES TO STORE THINGS LIKE TOOLS ,
PARTS LIKE BULBS , AN EXTRA FAN BELT AND A SPARE BOTTLE OF MOTOR OIL
Those are MIGHT be the armrests for the rear passenger :)
