BB, sounds like you have a good handle on your finances. There are a few of us in the same status. But, a majority of American don't have a pot to piss in and expect to live off of Social Security and the government. Future looks bleak for America.
The majority of Americans are in the top 1% on earth, the future is what you make it, in the 50's and 60's we were waiting for nuclear war, the future was really bleak, we were all going to die. Then the 80-82 recession, the future was bleak, my dad lost his business and had to take odd jobs, then Y2K, banks were going to crash and planes would fall out of the sky, then Obama got elected, we were all going to become socialists, etc etc etc.
The future is what you make of it, you get out of life what you put in, and most of all, the best things in life AREN'T THINGS!
Sorry to dump on you but I've heard so much negative talk the past few years, and right now is the best time to be alive EVER, wars and crime are at historical lows (look back on the past thousand years), medicine and healthcare are the most advanced they have ever been, we all have smart phones and internet, food is everywhere, and yet we complain constantly. Go back 100 or 200 years and tell them you can go 1000 miles in 1 day or fly or see a live feed camera from almost anywhere, or get weather reports, of if you are hurt, someone will come help you, even if they have to fly a helicopter to a mountain top to get you. Oh and helicopters!! your ancestors will wonder why you can learn to fly one but choose not to.
The future is bright, it's all a perspective thing.

I visited my tax man / finance advisor / undertaker again yesterday and took in my SEC book. Yes, I had it printed out at Kinko last week. OCDed the heck out of it too. It is high lighted, paper clipped, sticky noted like I was studying for a real estate exam, but that's another story. Anyways, he cautioned me again that this is a risk venture but I (me) should go for it. So, this morning I rounded up my pledge too my max I possibly could. At $600.00 per bundle of 50 shares I figure I want a round number of shares too. I didn't see my pledge registered on the SE site, I didn't check it right away. Besides talking to friends and strangers about Elio and passing out business cards, I am going to sit back and enjoy this show. It's been a great trip so far. PS In my confirmation letter, SE sent a cute little message for my on-line friends. So, I going to hit them up too, lol.

Elio Motors is looking to take advantage of a new change in regulation and see whether they should offer their shares to everyone in a mini-IPO. I already expressed my interest in investing and you should also take a look.

For an Old farm wife with a bad case of OCD. Well, I'm heading out to do goat hoofs. Looks like rain.
.... I never wanted to fly a helicopter but I always thought fresh goat milk was great. It IS !!!
This is the best time of my life.

Did you know that to be in the top 1% of the top 1%, yes, that's right, you need to be making $74,000 or more. To me, that's terrifying. Most of us on this thread, I suspect, are members of that elite group ... and we want a cheap car!

Go figure.

That's how you keep your money, I still have my first car, after 32 years! But seriously, I know value when I see it, sure I could drive a BMW/Mercedes heck I could afford a Rolls if I really wanted (I drive a Fiat 500), but I see the value in a $6800/84MPG 'car'. I suspect many others here do also.
