Paul, Welcome to ElioOwner.com from Atlanta, GA!

According to the federal government any vehicle with less than four wheels is motorcycle so this vehicle will have a motorcycle VIN and most states will tag it as a motorcycle. However by the time production begins no helmet and/or motorcycle endorsement should be necessary. Of course the reality is that this is mostly a technicality as the vehicle functions like a car but there are some upsides to this classification. Motorcycles have less regulations they need to meet which helps keep the vehicle cost down, motorcycles tend to have less expensive insurance costs, and commuters in big cities should be able to use the limited access HOV lanes which are usually open to motorcycles.

Glad you could join us here as you have joined a very diverse group of people from all over the country, and even an increasing bunch who are not in the country, who really enjoy discussing everything there is to know about this interesting vehicle. I hope you enjoy your time here reading about and/or discussing all there is to know about Elio Motors.

We have a survey we like reservation holders to fill out if they wish as it really helps us visualize the growing numbers and locations of future Elio Owners. For now information visit this link: http://www.elioowners.com/threads/elio-reservation-map-and-survey.1129/

We also have a thread for our many current and former service members to introduce themselves. If that applies to you visit this thread: http://www.elioowners.com/threads/military-service.1118/

The forum search function is a great tool as, in the vast majority of cases, if you have a question or an idea it has likely already been discussed. :)

If you ever happen to have any issues while on this forum please be sure to notify a staff member as we are here to help.

My wife and I ride motorcycles and we are both over 65----she is unable to handle the heat here in Texas and I thought maybe an Elio would be her new "motorcycle" and allow her to get out again. We live in Beaumont, Texas. Yes I know it is a car but-------- :)
Welcome Paul; We consider Texas God's Country around here. After all It was Tennessee's Jame K. Polk who led America into the Mexican war for the independence of the lone star state. Not to mention a complete fighting regiment, Sam Houston, and least of all Davy Crockett and family. The way I see it you owe us big time. LOL

Hi and welcome from Oregon, Paul Gehrke. I have to say Beaumont, TX is not a good place to live if you can't take the heat. The Elio should definitely help. Some of the threads Goofyone did not mention that are non-Elio topics are Jeff Porter's Football, Norahsbed Banter, Hobbies, Similar Vehicles, Weight Loss, Car Jokes. There are also threads within the Regional Forums from many states. I hope they will all help you enjoy this exciting journey to Elio production and ownership. :-) Z

Hi and welcome from Oregon, Justin Howe. Did you get your production/reservation number? That is a lot of daily mileage. I don't have to commute daily because I am retired but I sure look forward to feeling like I can afford to take little side trips once in a while. #6011 is going to be my little darling and I have already named her Zelio. LOL She will be my one and only vehicle. I hope you enjoy this exciting adventure and journey to Elio production and ownership. :-) Z
