When we figure out why drivers can't grasp concept of staying to the right, we can turn our attention to why people can't follow speed limits. Maybe it's just me, but 85+mph in a 70 zone might be breaking the law just a wee bit? I see that daily on I-65.

Not sure if this is whining, or complaining, but I just got back from a Gulf Shores, AL, a 14 hour trip each way.
Why is it such a hard concept for folks driving on two-lane interstates and highways to understand that "slower traffic should keep right!!" :frusty:

AAARG!
I had a good friend that would say, "I'm going the speed limit, nobody needs to go faster." Our rides together ended up being "discussions" on "why I will drive next time".
I found that (when following someone like that) a couple of "toots" from the air horn helped them "decide" to move over. ;) Seriously, No need to "lay on the horn"...just a couple of little "toots" :horn:

Just noticed your location, and I-65 is indeed one of the interstates I was referring to in my comment. We were rolling along [and moving to the right after passing] at 80mph....and a State Trooper passed us like we were on jacks with no lights on. Once you're out of the city congestion, I say open it up.

I have been in sales for over 35 years. Have put a lot of miles in a car over that time. Not like my semi buddies but a lot of miles.

Courtesy on the road is a dying trait. I do drive faster than a lot of people. But, I am well aware of my surroundings and adjust my speed to the situation. How I drive in Chicago is different than how I drive in Ohio. How I drive in Ohio is different than how I drive in Nevada.

I set the cruise on 6 MPH over the speed limit. Never have to worry about a ticket.
If I didn't have cruise, I'd have lost my license many times over by now.
When I don't want to pay close attention or I am tired your philosophy is spot on. Normally, if I want to really speed I follow someone else. Let them plow the law enforcement field. That process has been almost perfect over my traveling days. But, I remember a couple of times of a police plane and a whole group of us got pulled over. Sh..t happens.

Not sure that concept is taught in drivers training or by parents. The idea of the left lane was to be used for passing only was drilled into me . Also, somewhere it has been lost to move over to the left to allow other vehicles merging into traffic some space. Just common courtesy in driving.
You are correct.....
AND unfortunately"common courtesy" in general has been lost in today's society :(

Common courtesy, common Sense, manners, and being polite all come down to the same thing; people have lost how to respect others.
The "do onto others as you would have them do onto you" just doesn't apply any longer; it's more like "do onto others, and you'd better do right by me no matter how I treat you", again, respect, no one learns that anymore.
And "time outs" don't work, because your expecting a child to understand an adult concept.
There is nothing wrong with spanking a child that deserves it.
