Agreed, in fact my fiancee and I were riding recently on our motorcycle for the first time with no helmets, 30 mph and less around town. We both were enjoying the ability to talk with each other. Of course when riding at highway speeds, would be nice to talk too, without spending big bucks on the helmet communication systems.
I also see an interesting phenomenon developing. If a person thinks of the Elio in terms of a motorcycle, you have a set of expectations of the vehicle. If a person thinks of the Elio in terms of a car, you have a different set of expectations. Not better or worse, just different.
For a motorcycle person, you might be thankful and happy that it's enclosed and you can talk to the spouse in the other seat. For a car person, you might see it as a liability and it's tough to communicate through the driver's seat.
For the feeling of being on the open road and the wind in your hair, you may be disappointed if you are a motorcycle person. For a car person, you are happy to be out of the wind, weather, flying debris, etc.
Sort of segues to nearly everything in life: it's all about the attitude and the gratitude.
On the other hand, when in the back seat I felt trapped.I sometimes have communication problems with my wife in a car. LOL Traditional MC couples should find more convenience and comfort when autocycling together. People have reported back from Elio tour events that the back seat was surprising roomy along with photos of wives smiling in the backseat.
I feel trapped when I am in the back seat of any car. LOL :-) ZOn the other hand, when in the back seat I felt trapped.
Me too. This is my number 1 reason to get the opening rear windows(hinged). That extra control over something, anything, can help the passenger feel less trapped. I'm also thinking of setting up an Xbox or other game console. Even if just one of those handheld games with a 12v power jack.On the other hand, when in the back seat I felt trapped.

the video display is a great idea. not just for the forward facing camera but watching movies or navigation aid. an intercom is also a thought i would consider, depending on the noise level, especially with the windows down. another display for the driver to use with a rear camera as a rear view mirror, for that blind spot directly behind when maneuvering in close quarters .I believe the glass roof option EM has discussed will end up being very popular for helping with any back seat claustrophobia issues.
Another idea I have thought of is a forward facing camera which can be wired into a display mounted to the back of the driver seat so the back seat person always has a view of what is going on in front of the vehicle.
I love riding motorcycles, but there are two problems associated with riding them...they can't be ridden in inclement weather, and my wife won't ride with me because she's afraid of them. I'd like an Elio as an addition to my motorcycle, which could be used for commuting, or just joy riding, and I'd probably be able to get my wife to go with me too!
