I honestly think that a lot of young buyers will look into this as a first car. maybe a first part time job transport. I know I would have loved something like this a few years ago. plus the looks of the car set it apart from other vehicles which does make it more intriguing for younger people not to mention the price point and warranty at that. I should know I'm only 20 and took the plunge for all in and am waiting on my number atm.

Welcome to the forum! It's good to hear the perspective of the "20 somethings." I tend to think tho, that the 40-50 range will still be the largest market. At least (I feel) their names will go on the "dotted line". Once it is in production and the safety concerns are dispelled, I think it will become a popular first car for newly licensed drivers...purchased by their parents.

Be careful with the various heavy diesel parts/equipment you have another twenty years to retirement my Elio friend! Even if your an injector specialist, caution to your back. Reserving an Elio, you made a sound decision for you and your family!
Peace be with you.
Terrence :)

Fair bit of damage already done, unfortunately. Just lucky that I still am holding on to a high metabolism that helps me stay in decent shape, but I don't think my body has another 20 years of this work left in it! I want to still have some mobility left for those grandkids ;) And thank you for the kind words!

No, you like "loose" women
I guess we aren't into joking on this forum.

The truth is my engagement broke off in 2005 because I didn't want kids, I dove head first into my career after that and haven't touched a girl since... that was almost 9 years ago. Since then my salary has tripled and my stress has disappeared. I don't like loose women... I don't like any of them.

I'm all about joking.......and have been married to the same women & best friend (same person) for 46 years........no joke. We both had careers and are currently enjoying retirement while waiting for our Elio's.

I just put the remainder of my $1k all-in reservation in. Will be happy to get my number hopefully in less than a few weeks.

And to keep on topic :), I'm 30 and plan to use the car as a daily commuter in an effort to keep miles off my more expensive family vehicle.
Congratulations, AltoidBox. We should get our numbers after Labor Day. It will be so exciting! :-) Z

You know the Volt is not an electric car, right? It's a PHEV that gets 380 miles on a tank of gas. And that the Tesla, while not "practical" for 90% of the population due to cost, does not have range problems at 300 miles/charge and is by any accounting a profitable success?

I think the "green" people will come on board faster than you think. With the light weight, outstanding MPG, and lack of toxic-metal exotic battery and no use of coal-generated electricity, the Elio is "greener" than any Pious could hope to be.

I do not think we will see an electric Elio in the near future. Or ever if Paul is as smart as I think he is. It would destroy two of the Elio's four fundamental advantages: Low cost and light weight. Batteries of sufficient capacity are either very heavy or very, very expensive. Take your pick. The tandem layout leaves very little room for battery packs. Consider the entire floor of the Telsa is a giant, expensive, exotic battery pack. Despite using the lightest battery material available - lithium - the Tesla still tips the scales at a Bentley-esque 2-1/4 tons! More than 3.5 times the weight of an Elio.

The Elio Team already has plans for a Electric Elio, Propane/LG Elio, and a Hybrid Elio, but they want to wait and have about 500,000 Elio's on the road first... before new models are made...

So they are going to wait for about 2 years after production starts, and then Elio Motors will go into International Sales, and start the work on getting the three new models out for World Wide Sales...

By the time Elio Motors is ready to build the new Electric Elio's... they should have those new printable battery's out by then, which will cut costs and weight for any electric vehicle...

Look how long it has taken Paul Elio to get Elio Motors going to just this stage... some very new discovery's in the battery field are coming.. it just takes years for us to get to use them... kind of like a Elio...

This is Not a fact, it is Not in stone yet, it is just some of the plans they may have in the future...

I had that talk with the Marketing VP about what plans Elio Team had for the future of Elio Motors, when he was here in Portland Oregon in July of this year...

Interested in the age distribution here. I will post up some statistics and histograms once there are enough respondents.
64 and one-half: The age when you start getting loads of junk mail from insurance companies and pill pushers disguised as official notifications from Medicare.
