A good suggestion! Both the Electra Meccanica Solo and the Arcimoto FUV are three wheeler EV equivalent to the Ayro. I suggest Aufgeblassen test drive both if they meet the needs and price point. As an old geezer the FUV’s ingress/egress and driver comfort works better for me since it has the same overall height as my SUV. Now if the FUV only had the SOLO’s doors and climate control..............I would take delivery. You may wanna check out and test drive the Arcimoto FUV before deciding to shell out your own money trying to fix your Ayro 311. Well great, if money is not an issue, then by all means keep us informed. It is an entertaining thread of "how not to design or build something". I have never heard of such a convoluted journey, nor of an end consumer with the patience of Job.
As it seems the reoccurring problem is in the very poorly designed/inadequate drive unit, and as you indicate you want to keep the vehicle, I don't see any solution other than replacing the complete drive unit with something more robust. I suspect you will be tinkering with it for years. Good luck, you have quite a task cut out for you.
Can definitely see why they quite making the 311. Long as you are happy with the adventure is all that matters. Can't imagine how unreliable most cars would be if everyone has your patience.
Do to there are tons of golf carts being used day in and day out, I wonder why this is any different? Hopefully, before your final days you will figure the answer out on your quest.
Aufgeblassen, I have to hand it to you, you are the customer that is sent from the heavens.
Ha! I did saw the resemblance of your Ayro 311 to Arcimoto that's why I suggested looking into the latter! No wonder they got sued! Anyhow, time waits for no one specially for seniors who wants something "fun" to drive around NOW rather than waiting to get it fixed but it's obvious that's not you so keep pestering them and tell us their next move....Patience does not cause unreliability.
Well, they were sued by Archimoto for having a similar design, even though they are quite different. I don't know if the suit came before or after they decided to discontinue. But they still have it shown on their website. When I asked Ayro directly why they discontinued production, they said they satisfied all their orders. Plus, there is talk (I've heard from 2 sources) of a 311X model. Don't know how different it will be. If it happens, I'm going to ask to be a field tester for it. I'll be a good one!
Golf carts are quite different; 15-17 MPH vs 50.
