Really, a thousand miles! I can't think of anywhere I would ever drive where I couldn't buy gas for a thousand miles. And, do you really want to carry that much extra weight?
If you saw how I fit into my jeans, you wouldn't even ask the question ... :(

For me the rear seat will almost always be folded down. I will make something so that the area is flat all the way to the back of the front seat. My 2 dogs will ride back there and they only weigh 25lbs each. My plan is to load them in through the trunk hatch. My tortoises would not fit through the opening so they will have to travel in the bed of my truck if either of them ever have to go anywhere.

TT runs. Know them well.
Switched to a light beer and my miles between the T's increased.
A couple of months ago I went from San Diego to Madison WI and stopped for gas three times, after first fill up in the LRR. (G1 INSIGHT) It has a 10.9 gal tank..

It might just be "a little crowded" with all your pets. One solution I know of, Bed Bath and Beyond sells vacuum plastic storage bags, just used them on a recent move, judging from my experience, the extra large size sounds like it'll do it, they are re-uable too!, just a suggestion

back seat will be my trunk

I've figured this out too. I can still make grocery stops and just use the back seat. I'm just wondering if it'll be better to leave the seat up and use all of the backseat from the floor to the roof, and use the trunk seperately, or if I should put the backseat down and use it all as one piece.

Load the heavy stuff on the floor of the back seat (12packs and the like). Trunk for bread, chips and other light stuff. Grocery sacks on rear seat and on top of heavy stuff. The back seat should hold at least 3 bags of groceries. I think I can get almost all of the stuff I buy at regular grocery stores in the Elio. Now, Costco will be another matter!
