And I'm not worried. I am confident that the engine will be strong enough, and the rest of the drive-train is already engineered for heavier vehicles. I'm guessing the gross weight of the trailer will be less than 400lbs.

I have no knowledge of what the Elio is capable of beyond the factory recommendations and wouldn't risk voiding the 3 year factory warranty on a first year production engine and vehicle that may have issues, but I'm overly cautious. What others do is fine. I'm not even confident I'll have an Elio or the need for a trailer. I'm not worried either.
