The trip from Detroit to LA is about 33 hours. Have a couple the young kids drive straight through and you can have the Elio at the show in a day and a half. Shouldn't be a problem.

Are we there yet ?

Here is another question: "How many fleet sales are not included in the reservation number?"

Many moon ago, I asked on Facebook to Elio Motors if the fleet sales were included in the reservation number, and from what I remember, the answer was that some small fleet sales were in the reservation numbers. That implied that if there were any large fleet sales, they were not in the reservation count. But again, that was maybe a year ago or longer.

that would make sense because as Jerome noted business and government need a much more certain time frame before they place a large order

I have a question, if you would like to ask it.

At the LA invitation event, Paul Elio said, 90 days after production starts, the production rate would be 1000 per day. He also said the stores would open 12 months after production starts. (only if they run 2 shifts!)

This means reservations would be filled after 5 to 6 months (with the stores would not be open until 12 months after production starts). This means there will be about 6 months of full rate production, producing 125,000 vehicles with no stores for them to be sold at.

My question is: "What is going to happen to these 125,000 vehicles?" The marshaling centers would not be holding this many. I doubt reservations will increase that much from the LA Auto show to consume these vehicles. Is these going to be a large number of fleet sales we do not know about?

I suspect reservations will really take off at some point when it becomes apparent that they really are going to build them. If you look at it realistically, there's no compelling reason to make a reservation right now (ignoring the emotional/support Elio factor). Going back through the 'Elio Reservations" thread, I found this "Number of current reservations: 43,671 as of Jul 6, 2015". Right now it's 46.561. At a thousand vehicles a day, if those were all "All In - $1000" reservations, you'd get your car three days later if you placed your reservation today than you would have if you' had done it back in July. If you're not sure about things, why commit now? To maybe get your Elio a week or two earlier, IF they actually build them? Should they announce the end of the bonus program (again) or ATVM loan approval, I expect you'll see a spike (probably a much larger spike for ATVM approval). I'm fairly confident that once it's clear that they are going to be built, those 125,000 vehicles will get snapped up quickly
533 will likely be the most they can produce per shift.

I said it. But that may not be who is being referred to. I DID say that the LA Show is just that - a show. It isn't like the car has to run around or offer press drives though that would be a really good idea.
EM (Paul Elio) said the P5 would take 20 + or - weeks, about the same time it took to build the P4. EM also said the build would be completed in October, leaving time to test, prior to the November LA Auto Show reveal.

It is a show and Team Elio could push the P5 shell out to the display space to use as a prop, but that defeats the purpose of the 'really big show'. Reporter's will want to listen to the roar of the engine and/or drive it around the block. I hope the P5 is ready as planned. If it's not complete I doubt they would pull it out of the shop and trailer it to the show.

Years ago I was working with the people that put on a bike show at the Seattle Center. During setup we had to make sure that drip pans were under every vehicle in the building; I slid one under this beautiful Zuki' drag bike; the guy in the booth with it said "don't bother, there are no internals in the motor, or oil". So bringing in "posers" is not that uncommon.
However, I believe the P5/E1 will be able to drive into it's spot in the show under it's own power; looking at the pictures they're releasing says "I will be done on time".
And before I would let 2 teenagers drive the P5/E1 to L.A. I'd contact one of the professional car haulers <<--link> to get it there.

Coss, thanks for pointing that out! I like, "I will be done on time". That sounds like a guarantee that the P5 will be done on time and an EM promise kept.

Wait a minute..............on time for what? I ass.u.me.d the LA Auto Show.
