I was hoping for sound deadening option to be added to the MSRP. Might have to be factory installed dependent on how the interior panels are affixed. I'm not sure I want the guys at Pep Boys messing with this.

last December when the tour came to in Charlotte, NC I asked Jerome about the interior noise .... he acknowledged that the P4 cabin is noisy and directly stated that the sound deadening package that would be built into the production models would make it much quieter .... he didn't go into detail and I didn't ask .... throughout the process I have found I have to make myself remember that I'm buying a vehicle with a $7000 +/- base price .... as such it would be unrealistic for me to expect the ride, performance, amenities, power, handling, cabin noise level, etc, etc to be equal to my other vehicles which cost several to many times more .... also, for me to realize that if any of that is a deal breaker, I need to move on and spend the additional money to either modify my Elio from aftermarket sources or to move on and buy something else

You hit the nail on the head. Every time I start thinking about things like 10 way heated and cooled leather seats I have to remind myself that this is a $7000 car that I will use for trips to the doctor (220 mile round trip), groceries or courthouse (60 or 120 mile round trip depending on which town) or a quick run to a friends ranch (70 miles round trip). Not 3600 mile round trips in 7 to 10 days.

OK, about sound. Jerome felt he had to say something about it that is a snappy answer, with out going into details. I sat in both the P3 and P4, and even write about it in my article on 3wheelers dot com. These interior features were hard-surfaced prototyping structures, possibly fiberglass.
It would have taken time to explain modern interiors are 'elastomeric' plastics that are both soft in impacts as well as absorbing of vehicle vibrations and to some extent absorb airborne sound. This is part of the 'sound package' in all automobiles, basically all surfaces structures have been chosen with that as one of the optimizations. Then there are a few things added to the surface of panels and point sources of sound to deaden as well, but that weight is at a minimum, even in non-elio platforms.

Elio is using experienced suppliers that do this for other markets, and they will have recommended the optimal mix for the goals Elio has set forth. The sound package will not come at a heavy price in cost, weight or inconvenience. It's normal in current vehicle design.

Well, I always figured, you saved so much on the basic vehicle, you can afford to splurge on a few details, (IF this is your thing) maybe even somethings you wouldn't put in a more expensive car, cutting the premium off it's blue-book. "Blue-book on an Elio? Are you are kidding me?" lol.
IMHO, with web-storefronts like EBay, you could possibly recoup your investment in a custom outfitted Elio.

I'm sure that sound insulation and cabin noise levels are going to be designed to industry standards for small economy cars. While this may be adequate in many cases, I find that adding significantly more insulation greatly improves comfort (especially reduces fatigue on long drives) at a very affordable cost. I understand that not everyone would want to trade the extra weight and cost for that, which is why I was asking about an optional upgraded sound insulation package. I think it could be a relatively high margin add-on that could even improve overall sales if it's installed on one of the demo vehicles, since low noise levels and high damping greatly improve the perceived quality.

one of our members reported that they were told at a tour stop it would have daytime running lights

Every time we start this discussion I'm reminded of the old lead in I heard when we sat around the radio........
........."Return with us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear, when from out of the past come the thundering hoofbeats of the great horse Silver!"...........
and is it the headlights, or a running light or some combination of.
But it is an interesting question
