Since Lear is producing the seats from 18 locations in the US, it might make sense for them to ship directly to the marshaling centers. Since it's just a single seat really plus the cushion and back setup that the back seat will have (is that one even adjustable? I don't think so), they won't take up too much space. Each marshaling center will need fewer than 90 per day (average).

Now, I can tell you from Stats that there is a possibility that 90 customers could order an Elio with the exact same interior but I'd bet most will just get what is standard. Once stocked, marshaling centers would only have to order to replace what was used. Adding heat or cooling fans to a seat after it is put together is not a simple task so I'm betting those seats will be shipped separately. Now, whether Lear sends a heated/cooled version for every seat offered or just a couple of versions remains to be seen.

One stab...
1. Black Leather - Heated and powered
2. Tan Leather - Heated and powered
3. Grey Leather - Heated and powered
Since most people who opt for leather are already spending for the leather, most likely they'd spend the extra $20 for the heat. So, no leather without.
4. Black cloth powered
5. Tan cloth powered
6. Grey cloth powered
7. Black cloth manual
8. Tan cloth manual
9. Grey cloth manual

I really see that as being the main choices. Though, I almost took out the grey choice. In Albuquerque, I was told "It has a Mustang seat". Other than that, I read "You are limited only by what Lear can produce". I'm sticking with 6 material options with the leathers all being powered and 3 cloth seats either powered or manual.

WOW. That opens up a huge can of worms. LEAR has "tons" of color and texture choices, along with many different styles....Too cool! :)
Perhaps Elio will say "Order one of 9 seat choices to get your vehicle tomorrow or order one of the special Lear seats and get your vehicle in a month."

I had already been thinking about this and I am fairly certain EM is already aware of and preparing for custom orders with longer lead times. EM has already discussed the possibility of a primer paint only option, premium paint color options at some point, and custom wraps all of which would not be available the next day. If I had to guess I would say that many non next day custom orders will actually be handled out of the Shreveport marshaling center then shipped via the normal distribution system ready for delivery. Shreveport will already likely need to have the largest marshaling center as this one will have to carry the load for the entire company until the rest of the distribution system is completed.

Speculating, which in an Elioites case is a form of mental %^&@#!@tion,
I would think EMC will cut off reservations @ or near 60K units for ist year
production. This level of reservations should coincide with mid 2016. The
remainder of 2016 will be spent in fulfillment from Shreveport. Should all
of this happen EMC will be off to the races & will begin taking orders for
deliveries in 2017 from internet & developed store(s) to be fulfilled from
regional distribution centers with Shreveport support.
I have got to believe this has been worked out in minute detail pending
achievement of pre-planned milestones & attendant funding............There
I feel much better. Now I know how Sally felt in the Diner Scene.............:D

It's possible that the leather covers could be as easy as this:

This would eliminate the labor to remove the factory fabric. On the other hand, I can't see EM "wasting" the money to put the fabric on in the first place. I'm beginning to agree that a temporary seat or little folding chair could be placed in the units scheduled for interior work.

Don't You think that We will be asked a couple weeks before our number is next in line that We will be asked what options we want and they will be shipped with the car and installed just before we pick it up?

I was speculating based on the way the system will work for retail customers. We know the process will work very differently for reservation holders as EM has told us that reservation holders will be contacted about two months out from our vehicles production to work out our orders. For reservation holders all vehicles will be built and outfitted with options in Shreveport and then either picked up by us or delivered to us with the exact details on how this will work still to be finalized.

The last time I asked about this, in Charlotte, I was told that EM had reached out informally and the response from the casinos had been very positive. We will have to see what exactly plays out when we are closer to production however I have no doubt the local casinos would be very happy to welcome a steady stream of happy new Elio owners.
