The deposits are not transferable. If they were transferable, elio would have created a marketable security, and would be subject to securities regulation. That is simply a risk that their attorneys cannot let them run.

There are a few exceptions that they can grant, such as in case of hardship, death, etc, and still avoid the risk. That is why the reservation transfer must be approved by elio, and the number is reassigned to the back of the line.

Speculation: In cases of death, I suspect that the heirs might be able to retain the reservation number without elio running afoul of the securities laws.

Questions: Are you saying that you believe that a low 900's reservation number is worth only $500 or less at this time? That would seem to indicate a very low belief that the vehicle will be produced by June of next year. Would you recommend that someone new to the project spend $1000 for a reservation number in the 13,000 range?
good points- could yo elaborate? I for one think your post is more B.S, but hey it's only one opinion

It's been a long time since I studies securities law, and could not offer exact details without research. I am quite confident that what I have stated is correct, but am not willing to put the time and effort in to researching it. There are a number of instruments that meet the legal definition of a marketable security that would not appear to be such to a casual observer. IMO, elio has been very careful, and correctly so, to stay clear of securities law.

My belief system (BS to you) is that elio would be under indictment right now for securities fraud if the non-refundable reservations were freely transferable. Since the reservations are non-transferable, they have no legal exposure. Something as simple as that is one of the huge obstacles faced in starting a business. It's crazy, but businesses face many legal minefields, even when they are operating in good faith. I'm sure someone will say that I am accusing elio of securities fraud, but I am stating the exact opposite. I think they have made many mistakes, but they have done well to protect themselves in this area.

In response to #2. What data can you provide to back up this statement? I want proof, not opinion. Perhaps a thread needs to be started so we can all discuss this conundrum. Maybe not...Probably not get much participation.
LOL. :p. I assume you are kidding but maybe I shouldn't. Any who... I think the gas cap thread is the longest thread we have on this forum. Elio said it was going on the right to save money on plumbing. Those are facts right there. As to "what side is the right side", there is no concrete answer. I'd rather it be away from the only exit but some don't want to get out at their local hyper-dangerous gas station and have go around. It comes down to personal preference but we still managed thousands of posts about it.

Well not quite, reservations are not transferable without prior written agreement from an Elio Motors representative.

I would not recommend anyone that can not afford to take $1000 dollars out of their pocket and hand it over to with no expectation of anything in return put it towards an ELIO. It is very likely you could lose it. Now those that can afford to lose it step up throw in ASAP

... You can request to transfer a reservation in writing. However the position does not transfer it will revert to the next available number.

don

Thank you for your kind concern. You really seem to take a lot of thought about my personal life. If it came across as sincere, I'd actually be flattered. Apparently you haven't been on internet forums very long. The standard attack is "Get out of the basement. Your mother is calling you."

Again, if you can't refute, or even discuss the message rationally, attack the messenger.
