From all I have seen it seems Elio will install an engine line in the plant. Thats why Paul himself references Comau having just completed Ford's 3cyl Ecoboost engine line. Comau will do the same for Elio. As for the blocks best guess someone will supply them as partially compete and then be finished at Elio plant.

I remember watching this segment on tv just imagine a 3 cyl block instead of a V6

here is the same block being made

Thanks for digging up the videos.

Actually, the Samurai was the predecessor to the Geo Tracker. The sister to the Geo Tracker was the Suzuki "Sidekick." Prior to the Samurai, Suzuki had an even smaller 4x4 called a "Brute" or "LJ" series that was imported starting in 1971 that came with a 2 cylinder, air cooled, 359cc 2 stroke with a top speed of about 42 mph. They were available in hard or soft top. Japan has a classification for cars they call "Kei" which has size limitations, the "LJ10" fits into that classification. Inaddition to my Geo Tracker, I have a soft top LJ10 in a garage... gonna have to dig that thing out one of these days... It is an interesting and pretty capable little 4x4! Oh and mine is right hand drive!
That's right! I forgot about that. My buddy had a Samurai... lowered, of course probably in 1989 or 90. It rode like carp lowered but it had one hell of a stereo. Hey, don't judge. We were all young and dumb once.

I now exactly where it is. It is sitting at the IAV test lab near Detroit. :D
Cool. Some solid, factual information to go on. Please clarify what you mean by knowing exactly where the engine is. Does it mean:

a) You have personally seen it at that location.
b) You have personally seen it running under its own power at that location.
c) You saw it delivered to that location.
d) Someone told you they had personally seen it at that location.
e) Someone told you they had personally seen it running under its own power at that location.
f) You have seen an email or press release from elio motors that it is at that location.
g) You have some other way of knowing. Please explain ___________________________.

Thank you.
Bump.

Even if all the castings are done elsewhere (WHO & WHERE.....'major contract' to provide 1-2 per min. every day), they will still needs 'loads' of milling equipment, 'Flame Spray' for the cylinders, assembly lines, and 'test equipment' to QC the final engines...... all of which do not currently exist in the Shreveport Plant.
I guess we can apply the 'standard' Elio Motors answer......."to be determined, closer to Production."
Wow thanks? Keep it up= your more interesting than watching paint dry
