I put together a rough time line of the engine from tech talk info

But even IF they do finally display a running engine, and TEST it on the bench and in a 'yet to be built' "E" Series vehicle.... they still have a long way to manufacturing them in quantity! Since the Shreveport Plant NEVER made any ENGINES, the 'Elio Engine Facility'.... it will have to be 'created' from scratch! They have not said that they are 'exploring', 'identifying', or 'purchasing' ANY EQUIPMENT to accomplish this 'Major Task'. If their plan is to produce 500 to 1000 Elios per shift...... that means 500-1000 engines also. Or one every 29 to 58 SECONDS! As a comparison; Ford's Brook Park Plant (with 1,200 experienced workers, and a 1,200.000 sq. ft facility) currently only produces 50 EcoBoost engines per hour, running 24/7...... and they are ALL devoted to just making ENGINES! (ps It has only taken Elio Motors, 10-11 MONTHS to make the FIRST one;...... and they still have not demonstrated it RUNNING!)

I now exactly where it is. It is sitting at the IAV test lab near Detroit. :D
Cool. Some solid, factual information to go on. Please clarify what you mean by knowing exactly where the engine is. Does it mean:

a) You have personally seen it at that location.
b) You have personally seen it running under its own power at that location.
c) You saw it delivered to that location.
d) Someone told you they had personally seen it at that location.
e) Someone told you they had personally seen it running under its own power at that location.
f) You have seen an email or press release from elio motors that it is at that location.
g) You have some other way of knowing. Please explain ___________________________.

Thank you.

Perhaps you could add the dates of the youtube cad videos of the engine. And the first unveiling of the engine with the P3. And the pics of the first machined engine pieces. Probably someone here could even chart it for you. Thank you.

The last I heard, the plan is to have the castings contracted and the final milling will be done in Shreveport.
I had also wondered about a foundry.

I hope you are self employed, retired, or on vacation 'cause if you aren't you are wasting a lot of your employers time.

I might be wrong, but I think they have to complete testing of the engine. Then they can have the molds made for the castings. The test engine was sand cast, but the production engine will be investment cast, or maybe it's die cast. I'm not sure of the term. Bottom line, They have to be dead sure the design won't change.

Even if all the castings are done elsewhere (WHO & WHERE.....'major contract' to provide 1-2 per min. every day), they will still needs 'loads' of milling equipment, 'Flame Spray' for the cylinders, assembly lines, and 'test equipment' to QC the final engines...... all of which do not currently exist in the Shreveport Plant.
I guess we can apply the 'standard' Elio Motors answer......."to be determined, closer to Production."

coming here to ask such a question is pointless .... nobody on this form would have access to the info needed to answer it .... if you truly want an answer, try asking it on Facebook or on some site monitored by folks who work for EM
