Nice find, any idea why it's such poor mpg, compared to what the Elio "might" produce?
Back in the day I had a 3 cyl SAAB 2 stroke- lots of fun

Couple thoughts on mileage:
1. Frontal area of the vehicle. (25 sq ft v. 16 sq ft -- aprox.)
2. Author said he was not driving for mileage. (........"Of course, lots of throttle and riding it to redline will make any engine thirsty"........)
3. I seem to recall some kind of belly pan under the Elio to cut wind resistance?
4. I also remember from the TV show, reduced tire width by 1.5" to increase mileage.
5. Ford has more than double the weight. (2500 to 2700 lbs)
6. That engine has 123 HP compared to ELIO 55 (aprox)

Of course, I could be all wet.
Ford is calling 31 city / 43 highway - 36 combined on 2015 Fiesta with that engine.

They delayed due to stakeholder schedule. Apparently, something came up at the last minute that Paul and his guys thought was important enough to warrant a delay. That is all we know. Everything else is conjecture.

And I don't blame you for not wanting to read all this thread!
The delay was caused by IAV rather than Paul Elio choosing to do so. Just to clarify. It was a conflict in IAV's schedule. From what I understand, Paul didn't have a choice.

and you know that how?

I have been talking a bit with some folks I know at Elio. The postponement is NOT repeat NOT a problem with the engine. It is NOT a problem with one of the financial types / investors. It IS very unfortunate for the bad impression it gives, but it is NOT caused by anything Elio has or has not done. External events have dictated the reschedule. So we can all keep our shirts on.

I guess you guys didn't read my earlier post. This is authoritative: the delay was caused by problems related to the test facility, nothing to do with Elio Motors at all. The results of the delay are a problem for Elio, not least because of the disappointment in these ranks, but the delay was not caused by anything Elio did or did not do.

Again, this delay was forced upon Elio, not generated by Elio. I can't be more detailed than that, sorry.

while I may not always agree with positions taken by Ekh (heck, I don't agree with me all the time  ), over time I've come to trust his reporting on things like he presents above .... until proven otherwise, I believe that the delay resulted from some issues at IAV .... I would appreciate anyone with proof not guesses to the contrary posting it

So how does 'issues at IAV' correspond to what Elio tells us that it was a 'scheduling conflict with some stakeholders'? Are you saying you think Elio is referring to IAV as 'several stakeholders'?

Just because IAV may have been the stakeholder that broke the camels back does not meant there were not other stakeholders who were already on that camel and could not attend due to scheduling conflicts. :D

to answer that I would have to go into theory mode .... on one hand IAV's reputation as an innovative force in the industry most certainly gives them a stake in seeing that this project succeeds .... on the other, I've seen too many releases from EM that could have been worded more clearly

And does an issue at IAV not necessarily imply an issue with the engine?

this is what I was referring to above .... we can sit here and guess or hypothesize all we want but all we are doing it speculating .... we need to stay with facts .... as noted above, because of his proven history, I would say that the issues at IAV has noting to do with issues with the engine
