If the longevity of Elio's AMT is on par with the Smart AMT I would feel comfortable choosing it.. Sounds like a winner to me!

Did this info come from Elio? I'm just wandering, not trying to stir a pot.

This came from my cousin who, at my request, checked out the Elio and asked questions about the transmission during their visit to Knoxville. The last part about the dual clutch possibility in a year or two was my own speculation.

Since I've always preferred a manual tranny over all other types, I'll be going for a that. More fun

The only possible problem with the AMT is the 0-60 in 9.6 seconds..maybe 12 seconds..
My mazda 2 is a auto and has the sport mode and scoots very well, in regular drive, its ok...about 9 seconds..
I am really beginning to think I will have to drive that AMT before I commit $9000-$10,000.

I think you should hold out for that rear bench seat and a sliding mini-van door on the right side.

0-60 in 9.6s or even 12 seconds is going to feel downright peppy when I get in at the end of the day of driving work trucks around. The one I've been tooling around in the last couple days is easily the most powerful one I've driven yet, and 0-60 is still well over 20 seconds.

Double clutch automatic? That is starting to sound exotic (pricey)? I just hope they can save their price point of 6800. I am gonna opt for the 5 spd manual. That is more a proven technology.

The automatic transmission is going to be an optional thing that you have to PAY EXTRA for.
That is what I've read googling. Darn.....and power steering is probably extra tooo.

It sounds like, at this point, even the tires that are in the p4 are NOT the right ones. I think they will be a bit narrower....Might make it easy enough. Just have to wait and see.
