Mostly I get very favorable responses ... doesn't hurt that I have good photos to show on my cellphone. But, of course, it depend on the lifestyle of your listener. Soccer moms, not so much. Long-distance single commuters, tree-huggers, and empty-nesters, you bet!

Most people absolutely don't believe the projects $6800 price tag. This to an extent that makes me wonder if Elio is underpricing their vehicle ... anything that's too cheap makes people suspicious.

One problem is, it's hard to be really brief ... so the glaze-over can hit pretty fast. I wish I had some Elio cards to pass out ... that would make it easier to concentrate on the car and give people something they can use when they forget the name or whatever and want to look it up.

I've had similar responses on the price... However, I found a link to an Elio "cut sheet" and have printed out some copies for handing out to people that show interest... It gives a detailed overview and specifications along with some nice photos... I gave one to a sales manager of a local electrical supplier I deal with, and he told me today he's had several people show interest or even get excited about the Elio when he showed them the flier... One common thread that I get from everyone I talk to is they love the fact that Elio is building them here, and putting 1500 Americans to work! Here's the link to the flyer...

A co-worker said he's helping the environment by driving his suv! He said he's sucking up all the gas and thus forcing people to buy smaller cars, like the Elio that are fuel efficient! There's a warped logic to that, although, I think I would rather have more than less fuel on the far end of his formula! Another reason he won't buy an Elio? No room for a gun rack across the back window!

Since there is no door on the right side, tell him to mount it on the right side of the vehicle.......

Or maybe a turret on top?
Both would add distinctive styling! Another amusing thing he mentioned was the perceived safety of the suv, and granted, he probably has a point. Their mass is probably about 3-4 times that of an Elio? What is amusing about that is that he rides road bikes as one of his main hobbies. Not a motorcycle but the 5 lbs, skinny tire type ridden in Tour de France that has a bike helmet, bike gloves and lycra as safety features! Hmm, a bit of a dichotomy going on there! He's a good guy though and willing to have fun poked at him while poking fun in return. Still odd though, his choice of vehicles...

so far the folks that I've talked with have been somewhere between underwhelmed and beyond skeptical .... on engineer told me that their front wheel drive will not work well, his comment was with three wheels the rear wheel drive used by Morgan is far superior .... another who is a long time biker (currently has 2 Harleys) told me it looks like something his son would build out of he Lego blocks .... several who are retired have told me that even it it worked perfectly, they'd never save enough of gasoline to come close to paying for it ..... one young man said he'd rather have his date siting beside him ..:)
