Mostly I get very favorable responses ... doesn't hurt that I have good photos to show on my cellphone. But, of course, it depend on the lifestyle of your listener. Soccer moms, not so much. Long-distance single commuters, tree-huggers, and empty-nesters, you bet!

Most people absolutely don't believe the projects $6800 price tag. This to an extent that makes me wonder if Elio is underpricing their vehicle ... anything that's too cheap makes people suspicious.

One problem is, it's hard to be really brief ... so the glaze-over can hit pretty fast. I wish I had some Elio cards to pass out ... that would make it easier to concentrate on the car and give people something they can use when they forget the name or whatever and want to look it up.

I hate to admit it, but I have told very few so far about the Elio. The first reason for this is selfish - I want to be one of the few on the road driving one in the early days. But secondly, I know that many of the people I know will not be very accepting of it. Many in my industry feel the need to express their "status" by the vehicle they drive.

So today I have showed the flier I picked up to a couple of my coworkers. The first (who just got a new Lexus) told me that I would be laughed at. The second wanted more info and saw the value in it.

Each to their own, I guess. They can laugh at me all they want. I'll be laughing my way to the bank with all the money I'll be saving.

I agree with laughing all the way to the bank. I personally just don't bother to care about what people, who would seriously look down on me based solely on something like what kind of car I drive, have to say about me.

Ditto. I am self reliant, individualistic, financially responsible, economical, and not concerned about social status. I'm into functionality and not into brand names or "elite" branding. Makes me even more excited that my Elio will show that I am not a status chaser or mindless follower.

My friends generally break down into three groups:
  1. Techies - those who are comfortable outside the box. They're interested in new technologies and look forward to an alternative future.
  2. Unbelievers - those who don't believe a private company can bring a somewhat radical automotive product to market, then deliver 250 cars per day in full production.
  3. Luddites - the real technophobes among us - the ones who, when you tell them you're buying an Elio, look at you as though you'd just announced you'd taken up snakehandling.

Don't you have any friends (other than us) that are believers like you?......LOL

Eventually I hope to have one or two extra Elios in my shop undergoing various engine swaps and/or even making my own electric Elio just for fun.

If it wasn't obvious before(K, I did say so once), I want to drop my Atlantric body over an Elio, frame and all. But I need one of the production units in hand to know more of the physical details.

I believe Buckeye Jake can tell you who to contact to get some cards. I know they are passed out at the events and he got some in Columbus. Then he wrote someone at EM and requested and received more. It is at least worth asking. In fact I have considered doing the same thing when I get low with the ones I have from Portland. :-) Z

I've shared with immediate family and close friends, (Geez it's sounding like I'm telling someone I'm going to convert), about my future travel mode. Share with everybody else by passing stuff I see along to FaceBook. I know, that first year of ownership, when I'm the only one in town, I'll never be home just out cruising the strip in my Elio! But I digress. Mary, dear Mary, friends for ages, she's a gal pal who is near and dear. She is shall we say a robust girl. She keeps asking about a big girl back seat extractor. Gotta love her, I think she will fit with room to spare, just the transit into and out of may have it's own special drama. I'll try to remember to film and share when it happens.
