Good point, I remember my 72 vett had t tops and I believe some of them had a top that came completely off. Seems to me it could be a pain in the butt to mess with but would be neat ride in summer.
You could just make it a hard top convertible. Sure it might be a bit more difficult to take off and put on, but this way, you could keep the air bags in the frame (assuming they are located below the window). Just add a couple bolts to attach it to the main frame, and wallah! You have a nice vehicle for both the summer and winter months that will insulate better then the canvas tops.
