We talked before about how the outer panels will be replaced instead of repaired. I am thinking that this is meaning they can be easily replaced. If that is the case, then I am thinking that there might be some aftermarket dealers who will be able to make custom attachments for them.

I mean, how cool would it be to add a cape, or bat fins, or anything else that you would want? Maybe wings to make it seem like its flying, or spikes along the top. Possibilities are endless!

Sure it might cost a bit more, but with a masterpiece such as the Elio and the fact that it is already so customizable, why not transfer that to the outer shell? If you don't want the added looks, I bet they could make it where you could buy additional panels of other colors. One week, its licorice, next its cobalt, and so on.

Some of those panels will be bonded to others; when they say "easy to replace" it's not like you would be able to have 3 or 4 complete bodies to swap around in a couple of hours. It's a little more involved then nut and bolt work. Nice thought though.

When you say that the panels are bonded, in what way are they? Is it through a welding or some other technique? I'm sure that with a few tweaks, nuts and bolts, and sweat, it could easily be adjusted to be swapped out as desired.

I can see it becoming a convertible, but the rear storage would be nonexistent, and the passenger seat would either be moved up, or taken out completely. That's just my thoughts though.

Bonded = Urethane bonding agent to attach two surfaces (roof to body sides).
You in essence would have to cut it apart and build a new mating surface with a way of attaching it.
Oh it could be done (everything is possible though some not too probable) if you're extremely talented, have the tools and equipment (and the time) plus a shop to work in; or a big box of money to pay someone to do it for you.

Don't forget modifying the frame to keep it structurally sound and crash worthy. Plus what I said earlier:

Since you will have to relocate them, the only area that I think that they would fit best would be under the drivers seat.

Good point, I remember my 72 vett had t tops and I believe some of them had a top that came completely off. Seems to me it could be a pain in the butt to mess with but would be neat ride in summer.
