As I understand it, it is on the non-door side because they don't have to go around the door with the gas line. Also, there is no reason to let your car run out gas. I have been driving for 57 years and have never run out gas. If I did, I would be pulling off to the right side of the road - this is the USA - so putting gas in it would be safer because I would be on the side away from the traffic. To my way of thinking they definitely chose the safer side. Z

Yes! That's a good idea, and I'd we're talking safety put the door on the right side also!(curbside in the USA)

Sorry, I messed up. So this thread isn't about toilet paper? Now I have to go find the right thread and re-enter all my comments.
But, on the upside, I am helping to keep a thread going until we can get it OVER THE TOP.

Surely it must always dispense from the top, due to gravity?

But in our house, for some reason my wife or my daughter (not sure which one) thinks the paper should come from behind the roll, not from the front, like it really ought to do. I always turn it round, left to right, to put things right. It probably drives them crazy.

I know this is correct because if you stay in a hotel the toilet paper fairy comes in your room and puts a nice point on the first sheet. Now, if the roll is facing the wrong way round, they cannot do this. Although, to be honest, I've no idea why a fairy thinks people need pointed toilet paper.

Due to design flaws overlooked during the construction of my house, I'm going to have to disagree. If I load a roll so that it dispense from the top, the heating vent will unroll it like a little invisible kitten. My son-in-law used to flip it around just to aggravate my wife ..He's no longer my son-in-law.
