would you still buy an Elio if gas was $1.00 a gal.? My answer is yes, I would buy it if gas was $.50 a gal. It's not all about the gas, is it?

So my F150 cost about $45K. I have about 100K miles on it. About $.45 / mile.
If it was an Elio it would be about $.07 / mile.
And those numbers don't count gas or maintenance costs.
So not counting gas, a round trip for groceries ( 60 miles) costs $27 in my F150 as compared to $4.20 in Elio.
Would I still buy an Elio?
Is that even a real question?

Depending on what one needs are, and financial situation people will purchase a Elio. When I went to purchase this in May of 2014, it was for long distance touring of North America at a very economical price. Now, I had to purchase and restore a 4 x 4 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with a 5.2 engine and delay my travels for a year due to EM's delay in production. In fact if I would had been informed of their delays earlier I would have been traveling more of the world, instead of returning to the states April 27th 2015.

It will cost me up to 30K (add for tooling) to finish my Atlantric plus god knows how many man hours.
Event though mine will get over 110mpg guaranteed(highway), if the goal is economic travel, it's not even a contest as to which makes more sense in real dollars.

No. It's also about the PRICE of the Elio. I suppose some are just looking for a three wheeler with a motorcycle feel. But since I've never ridden, that's not really on my radar.
