I thought Fire Departments were going to that lime green and other colors from that "loud" color group?
Or it's just that we are really behind the times out here in the boonies; our trucks are still red.

Cop cars are black, with a medium blue stripe.

Actually it is Lime Yellow. Very similar to Crayola's Electric Lime.
It is based on the best sensitivity of the rods and cones in the human eye.
As a result it provides the best visibility during the day and the night.
