Man, that's just a tick above depressing. I guess we just can't expect more than 40/day until some really big news happens.

Big news examples:
  • Hillary Clinton wants to become a man
  • The New England Patriots are NOT in the playoffs
  • The ATVM loan came through
  • NASCAR decides to have drivers go clockwise at Talladega
  • Jimmy Buffet announces he no longer likes tequila
  • Harrison Ford retakes flying lessons

lol, sure pretty much just the third one. Although, a finished and reported engine would be nice, even better in a crash vehicle or 25 of them.
I think the public is at least partly aware of Elio and most are waiting for some significant progress. Which probably means there are plenty of people waiting for the right conditions. And Funding that's the biggest gorilla ever. I'd really like to know what is left for EM to get that loan qualified.

I stand by my estimate that there are more than 10people who would buy a year1 car off a show room floor, for every year1 reservation holder.

I saw a quote(or miss-quote) of Paul saying he could get 240k reservations on-line before year1 production starts. Well, yes once it's funded. Chicken an egg problem? Not really. Good thing reservations above this level are not a qualifier for the loan. It's other things at this point. But what?

Number of current reservations: 42,122 as of Apr 26, 2015 = 407/14 days = 29.1/day

(Worst numbers since March 8.)

that could at least partly explain holding the numbers for a week .... none the less, they are what they are and if all were $100, that would still bring in over $40K in 2 weeks ....

agree ... I have 3 friends who I believe will buy an Elio ....however, they are holding off making a reservation until they know it will go into production .... I bet they aren't alone in doing so

Not a misquotation. Well, sort of. The figure was 250k reservations. Paul Elio said it at the St Francis University presentation. It's available on youtube and probably elsewhere. No evidence so far that the video was doctored. At the current rate, that would mean that production should start in late 2034 (19 1/2 years from now).

I'm guessing that Paul was thinking that there would be a great jump in reservations once the engine was built, the prototypes were tested, reviewed & crash tested, and hiring at the the plant was in full swing. If so, that would seem reasonable to me.

While I think you are overly optimistic on your 10:1 projection, I believe that the vehicle would sell well if it actually reaches production with anywhere close to it's current projected performance claims. Ie $7300 MSRP, 49/81 mpg, 0-60 mph in 10.5-11.3 seconds, top speed 95mph+. (Basing the $7300/81mpg on Paul's statements, basing acceleration & topspeed on more realistic calculations.) Ongoing sales volume would be based on user experience and reliability.

At any rate, 29 reservations per day works out to about $80k per week. Still plenty to keep the roadshow going, with the hope that Prince Charming / Uncle Sam will come and sweep Cinderelio off her feet before the clock strikes midnight.

I think Paul meant that there would be 250,000 reservations before the cars were built. In other words, reservations would keep standing inventory at zero... Every Elio in that first year would go to a reservation holder. Some may be putting in reservations after initial production began and will have to be on the wait list.
His point, I would GUESS (Yes, this is a guess that makes sense to me), is that he meant the first year's production would all ship from the factory to the customer making Elio stores unnecessary and that only at that point would production begin to be able to outpace demand.
