I was thinking the same thing. Rotated, things would line up better. As it is the air over the radiator cools the engine, which then flows over the exhaust and cat to reheat the engine, and the shift console is on the opposite side of the engine bay (but a cable shifter can solve that). Engine heat management not optimum. I think its oriented this way because the stock tranny would rotate the wheels backwards of the drivetrain was rotated 180.
They've planned on putting it in that orientation since they were drawing it up.
Almost a year ago they were showing everyone the "groove" in the oil pan.
The one that the exhaust is going to pass through on it's way to the rear of the engine compartment.

Hmmm.

You don't really think that there's a chance that, on November 10th, one of the techs is going to look down and suddently say...,

"Oh sh*t! We put the damn thing in backwards!"

Hope not.

We really don't know, and I wont ask, exactly when these pictures were taken.
It would be neat, after the P5 debut, to have a bunch of pictures in various stages to show us how it all goes together.
The pictures are .jpg format. The data record of the photos can be displayed using an "EXIF" (software) viewer product - which I don't have (and therefore cannot confirm).
Someone has posted elsewhere that the photos are dated in mid September.

I posted the link to an online EXIF decoder and it said 9/23/2015 so the pictures at least are definetly recent.

And it turns out that the windows 10 photo viewer will also display this information if you right click and select file info.

The First Pictures of the Elio Engine in the P5
by The Elio Team

Happy Friday Elio’ers! Wow, what a week... so exciting. You see and read about the progress that we make every day through our various communication tools like blogs, social media and email. Some days it is incremental and some days it is “behind the curtain” so we hold off sharing until things are finalized.

Well, this is just too exciting to hold any longer.

But wait, before we get to the bigger news, we wanted to keep you in the loop and let you know that we held a supplier summit this week in Detroit. Actually it started yesterday and continues through today. These paradigm shifting summits continue to exceed expectations as we work our way through this exciting project to design and develop the Elio for America and the world. The feedback from the meeting is always interesting especially the recap about the incredible group of experts that come together and the creative/ingenious/unique solutions that they create for your vehicle. We will discuss the Supplier Summit in more detail in the coming weeks.

Progress can, and does, come in most any form, but today is special. We are very happy to share, for the first time publicly, pictures of the Elio engine in the Elio P5 prototype! Here are a couple of views to soak in:

This is a huge step along our journey. A purpose developed engine in a high-mileage, low cost vehicle that is made in America. The mission continues with the engine and the E vehicles, so stay tuned for more information about our continuing momentum.

ICYMI – In case you missed it – our friends at Motley Fool have done two pieces about Elio Motors in the last week that we wanted to make sure you saw. Check these out:

I am wondering where the heat will exit. If the openings for suspension/axle are to be covered, that plugs those holes. A belly pan obstructs there.

It does seem that the middle picture shows the radiator at an angle; and, the P5 CAD depicts a feature (hump? ridge?) on the hood that will create a low pressure area for a perfect exit.

It is supposed to be at the LA auto show.
You have doubt? There is much P5 work to do based on the photos. If the P5 is not done by the LA Auto Show, you and I will have to eat a crow sandwich based on our by Thanksgiving prediction. Oh wait let's make that Turkey.
