Most European vehicles have the gas cap on the passenger side, like my VW. I don't care where it is if it keeps the cost down and the mileage up.

I'm really looking forward to the gas cap being on the passenger side. At Costco (where I buy gas) everybody wants to fill up their car on the drivers side. Most people don't like to drag the hose over their car to the drivers side. This means the passenger side of the pumps are not used as much and I don't have to wait as long. Besides, with the Elio I won't be spending as much time at the gas pump therefore this is a non issue with me.

Just like you described, one time at Costco there was a line to use the pumps on the right of the island but all the pumps on the left side of the islands were free so I simply ignored the one way sign and treated it like most other gas stations and pulled my car around in the opposite direction. Apparently someone became upset since I did not wait in line like they did and had to tell me about it. My response to them was; 'I am not dumb enough to wait in line for a pump when half the pumps in the station are not being used'. Needless to say they did not appreciate that response but by that time I was done fueling so I enjoyed pointing this out as I wished them a good day and drove off. :D

I'm retired fem NY, thought about GA but too many rednecks for me. (lol)

But more on topic- if the front 2 tires are different size than back, it will be to our advantage when we need to replace 'em, lots of stores (even pep boys) "buy 3 get the 4th free" maybe in the fine print it might not be allowed but buy 2 for the front and two for the rear-since I think the fronts will wear faster than the rear the saved rear from previous purchase will now only require the purchase of two fronts. Yes I see the problem, after the first change, there will be no way to get the extra 4th tire home in an Elio!!

Hey Rucrazy, we'll still take you here :D and the rednecks here ain't no worse than there. LOL
Moved here 8 yrs.ago from Tampa Bay area, wouldn't go back.....
On point: We could take the fourth tire home on a roof rack, I plan to get one of those later from the Elio Store anyway.

Ah yes, da Red River valley. Been through the area a few times back in my truck driving days. I prefer the lake country of eastern MN/western WI though.

The lake country is beautiful alright. My Grandfathers house sat right on the Red River in Breck'. I remember piling up snow against the garage, icing it down, so we could start on the garage roof with our skates on and be hauling butt by the time we reached the river. Ah, to be young again.:D

I came out of work on Wed to a flat and shredded tire. No amount of fix-a-flat was gonna bring that back to life. Got me thinking about no spare...

AAA......:D

I thought of that, and will probably do that once this all happens.

Two issues though:
  • If it isn't a standard tire, AAA won't be of any help except to tow my vehicle somewhere. That's a HUGE hassle and expense when all I need is a spare tire
  • Where I work, access is...restricted, so bringing in AAA and/or a tow truck could be problematic to say the least.
Maybe I'll keep a spare at work!

Reminds me of an old Candid Camera episode, back when glass enclosed phone booths were the norm. They put a "mens" and "ladies" sign on the top of two adjacent booths and started filming. People would stand in line, rather than use the available booth. I see the same thing going on with port-o-potties which are also unisex.

"When they were passing out brains, I thought they said drains, so I asked for a big, empty one."

I agree with PE that this was the right move financially. I also believe that it is a safety issue for the owner who runs out of gas on a busy roadway (except for Wheaters, et. al.)

This is why I'd prefer a run flat tire on the rear wheel, if not on all three. However, once there are hundreds of thousands of Elio's on the roads, the tires will become standard....presumably Pep Boys will keep them in stock. Says he, hopefully.
