You know, both NYC and LA have helicopter taxi services?Found this article saying the Russians will have flying taxis this year. Pretty cool if it happens.

That's pretty cool, but, are you ready to give up control of your driving?
And trust a machine to drive for you?
I think I'm becoming a little skeptical of the autonomous car for everyone. It's an expensive feature, and complex as heck(both hardware and operationally). That means lots of reliability and insurance issues plus the up-front costs. I think it will indeed arrive, and has. But tractor-trailers, buses, taxis and personal limos will all go first, with quite a long delay for any middle-class hardware.Absolutely not. Not for a while anyway. One of the things it represents is the pace of technology. All the vehicles made today, gas or electric, will be obsolete quicker because of this pace. Does anybody really expect the they will want their current Tesla in ten years? By then the battery will be failing and the programmers for the vision computers will be working with the new technology. Upgrades will become fewer and fewer for the older vehicles. The only way to avoid this somewhat, is to keep the vehicle simple. Like the Elio hopefully is.
On the other hand, having a vision computer monitoring your surroundings and alerting you might be beneficial. An infra-red HUD would be helpful too.
