We need to work with EM and our legislators to push that Autocycle Safety Act legislation through congress this year so EM can sell those credits asap. I bet if EM can sell credits for our reserved vehicles they would be willing to sell the vehicles to reservation holders at the $6800 price.
They might be willing to sell them to us at cost and still make a decent profit.

The only real allure to me is the fact that the Eliot currently IS a motorcycle by definition . . . At least here in Virginia that has real benefits from a perspective of being able to use HOV solo as well as toll free access to the HOT lanes which would save me hours of time and a substantial amount of money per week. If it gets reclassified as a car from a registration perspective then it loses a lot of benefit to me.

Here is Paul Elio's Math regarding CAFE Credits and his plan to qualify the Elio by the end of 2014, copied from the May 2014 Caddo Parrish Commission Meeting Minutes. I had know idea EM was working to change the Elio's vehicle classification to a car and didn't think that was even possible with a motorcycle vin number although perhaps that changes with the car reclassification.

What does this have to do with the engine? I think you are looking for this area of the forum: http://www.elioowners.com/forums/general-elio-discussion.8/ ;)

It has to do with the quote in my post about Elio trying to reclassify the vehicle as a car to qualify for CAFE credits.

Insert winky face smiley . . .

It still has nothing to do with the engine.
It only has to do with a benefit that impacts you in Virginia which is one dinky little east coast state.
As far as the quote, the law could be changed to include "autocycles" without impacting your HOV or HOT lane credits.

For many reasons Elio Motors does not wish to officially change its NHTSA designation to a car but instead change the CAFE regulations to allow auto-cycle type vehicles to be counted towards CAFE standards.

rmfd, Welcome to the forum. Lots of people on here with lots of information. Always worth while using the search engine to look up things, although our threads do tend to wander a little bit.
