As for Mfg rates (nudging back onto the topic), my field, aviation, and automotive production lines are so 'apples and oranges' that I sit back and take notes from Ty and others that "know" what they're talking about. Now if you want to discuss installing an ejection seat into your Elio...I'm your man.

No...But if you have one [JATO...Technically should be RATO], keep one hand on the ejection handle. You'll need it!

You're gonna need some serious heat shields if you have a "Mother-in-Law" riddance system. Better yet. Ejection seat for the pilot [you], and just aim your Elio at something unmovable (bluff, tractor trailer at a complete stop, bridge abutment, etc...), and pour the coals to it before you pull the handle.

I'm giving this waaaay too much thought.

I'm thinking if you mounted JATOs to the fenders, you'd have missiles...which is not a bad idea thinking about my drive home.

Yes. You're onto something. But I'd advise checking with the ATF/NSA/FBI/CIA and every other government acronym before you open your wallet for a set of JATOs [Russia Ebay maybe?]. PM me if you get approval.

What if, instead of JATOs, you mounted a couple of pulse jets on either side of the rear half? Replace the rear seat with a kerosene fuel tank. When you want to lay on the speed (and deafen everybody within a 5 mile radius) you just light up the jets and rocket on home.
