Mercedes-Benz did try putting hydrogen gas in the tires on their F1 cars to reduce unsprung weight, but the hydrogen "migrated" out through the porous rubber which put the quietus to the matter.

Yes, WHY is a curious question. If the company has failed, what would be the point. I'm leaning toward Paul using it as a tax deduction, probably claiming a lot more loss than it really is.
