I have heard two times that Elio Motors employees have stated, that potential investors have offered all the money Paul Elio needs, but he has turned it down because the investors wanted "too much control". There are many wealthy people who are car enthusiasts and would salivate at the idea of starting a car company. I also believe they would love to determine the design of the vehicle, so Paul Elio has said "no". These people are more interested in designing a vehicle than they are in manufacturing one.

I hope Paul Elio does not let this project die because he does not want to share control. The vehicle would never be built, we would loose our money, and Paul Elio will never have this chance again.

If Paul Elio does not get the ATVM loan, he may use the 506 and crowdfunding money to finalize the design and testing and bring in investors when it comes time to actually build the vehicle. The design and testing will have been finalized and investors will be less likely to change it.

(I know I have said this before. I know I am repeating the idea.)

I'm another who watches but has given up due to the constant movement of the due date.. Buying a Miata with the money I had for the Elio. The date keeps moving and to my eye Mr. Elio is moving slower than a snail.
Wanted to get excited about the car show and reveling but so what? Just another one off and no movement on the production line.

understandable but not real world .... the speed of EM's evolution is governed by many factors .... some they can control, some they can't .... none of which any of us has control over .... it is inevitable that in a project like this mistakes will be made and have to be overcome .... the reality is all of us wish things would have moved faster but it literally is what it is .... we can ride it out or not .... for us, we choose to act as the observers we are and try to enjoy the ride

The developement of a new vehicle is a complex and tedious task. Made even more difficult by uncertain funding.
A projection date for production is just that. A projection. Elio has comitted its self to nothing except to produce a vehicle.
All of US have also only committed to the idea that thay can do so by our support monitary or otherwise. The use of a production date is to keep us interested and get support. It has little or nuthing to do with when the vehicle will actually come to pass. That is subject to everything stated and not stated in this forum as well as unforeseen and foreseen events.

Promises, projections, targets... I think it's safe to say that either Elio Motors doesn't know enough to promise a production date, or they do know enough but don't have the needed funding. It's foolish to make any major life decisions based on a production start date for the Elio vehicle. If you are just curious and want to know when production is supposed to start, the answer is: nobody knows. Don't let it ruin your week, month, or year.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: If the Elio had any kind of experienced management they would have put together a list of unexpected problems so they could get them resolved before they became problems.

The "Elio" CAN'T possibly have any kind of experienced management, because it's the car/trike , you probably meant "EM" and I have to disagree about your statement as PE have surrounded himself with "experienced and knowledgeable" partners to see this project through to the end (fingers crossed). I think it's safe to say that they have a well organized management in place but they're NOT PSYCHIC to give an accurate forecast of when they will acquire the additional funds. By the way, the list or problem/s you mentioned are very short- it's FUNDING PROBLEM, period! I think it's also safe to say that had EM started this project with at least half a billion dollar to spend, the ELIO would have been a common name and in our streets now!

" experienced and knowledgable" are an amazingly collective of of the best in the automotive industry, I thought their checkbooks would be forthcoming , as many boards- even non-profits, have deep pockets.

If wishes were fishes, we'd all eat like kings. Clearly, things have not all gone as originally anticipated. Either praising Paul and the team as automotive geniuses or condemning them as hopeless incompetents would be an exaggeration. It's been a rough road, and is almost guaranteed to be a rough road for some time yet. The hope is that they will hit the ball out of the park with the P5, and that things will start turning around.

Well, dagnammit! They SHOULD be! The plant is in Louisiana, fercryinoutloud. It's not like psychics are rare, down there! They should be able to hire one or two on retainer.
