I tried to quell my none-pregnant's temper by paying her a compliment. I complimented her in that she didn't seem to sweat much for rather weighty person.
I managed get out the back door on my hands and knees. LOL

Before I discuss horsepower, I must continue the digression a bit. First, North American natives did not necessarily live in peace and harmony and democratically for 800 years......second, the Europeans unknowingly carried disease everywhere they went- those diseases wiped out as much as 90% of indigenous populations, requiring little effort militarily to "conquer" the lands of those people- long before the travesties carried out later to wipe out the remnants.
An interesting thing about horsepower... making an engine more efficient can produce two distinct benefits- produce more horsepower, and increase fuel economy. I have a Ford pickup with a 4.0 V6 pushrod engine. It produces 160 hp. The next version of the engine, still a 4.0, with a SOHC, produces 210 hp. Although not a very economical engine, the gas mileage of the SOHC rigs is significantly higher, while providing LOTS more power. A small turbo on the Elio 900cc might be a real surprise in both numbers.

My first new car $1800, and for .25 get a coke AND a slice!!

It's been said that not too long ago in this part of the world you could get a meat pie, a pint of beer and a woman for the night with change out of five pounds.

Snag was, as time went by, inflation took over and there was less meat in the pie.

Anyway Horsepower was adopted by James Watt to compare steam engines with Horses, 1 HP = 746 Watts. (keeping on topic here)

I was once told that a horsepower was the equivalent measure of a horse pulling a heavy bucket of coal up a certain height of mineshaft, via a rope on a pulley.

sounds more like it. However, I'm thinking that the woman started questioning more often "are you finished yet" and may have had to work two or more of you a night to make ends meet.

Ok so in that gender let me ask; what is the difference between brake horse power and just the term "horsepower"?
PS Watt is an electrical term describing voltage as a pressure action similar to water multiplied times amps as a volume of electrons flowing much as water also. Volts(pressure) times amps(volume) equals a unit of electrical power, known as a watt.
the power consumption of an electrical circuit that has energy consumption of 90 joules for time duration of 3 seconds?

P(W) = 90J / 3s = 30W
