delivered as promised by FedEx .... per the enclosed note, the problem was a broken hammer spring .... it was well protected by packaging .... after this issue, I've decided to use Carlson's snap caps .... I figure that can't hurt .... observation : as mentioned in post #34, when we first purchased it, the trigger pull was rather heavy .... over time it smoothed out but in looking back, I now believe the OEM hammer spring wasn't right from the get-go .... as repaired, there is a significant improvement in the trigger pull and I'm looking forward to firing it ....
Hmmm, broken tension spring on a brand new and never been fired BOND?? It's definitely a quality issue for that part whichever country it was sourced. Anyhow, glad you got it back and hoping it'll the last time you have to send it back.

it had been a display model in the shop where I bought it .... don't know for how long or how many times it was dry fired, which is not supposed to hurt it ..... the more I handle it, the more convinced I am that the OEM "Hammer Torsion Spring" was faulty to begin with .... my wife couldn't cock it using both thumbs nor could she pull the trigger .... now she can cock it with a single thumb and has no trouble pulling the trigger .... its trigger and cocking functions are both much smoother and do not require anywhere near as much effort .... I have a call into Bond to speak with the fellow who did the repair .... he's not there now, they are supposed to have him call me ....

You should be ok with it now. I'm sure it was tested and re-tested after they fixed that problem. If anything, I'm more worried about you dropping it as you fire it the first time! :becky: I said that because it has a much smaller grip and firing a what....44mag? So be safe with it.

we have two different sets of barrels .... the first is 38/357 .... the second is 44 Special .... my plan is to fire light 38 and 44 loads.... with the way things are today, I wanted to have one caliber that uses small primers and one with large primers

my plan was to cut down a hundred 44 Mag cases to 44 Spec length and light load them for use in our Roughneck .... doing so with the equipment we have requires considerable time ....in these times I felt lucky in coming across a source for semi-favorably priced once fired 44 Spec cases and have 100 on the way .... once they get here I hope to get them loaded and ready to fire

A good friend of mine owns a Mag 44 semi-auto and cuts off 30.06 casings to mag 44 size and reloads them.

I'm hunting a brand new state game land three miles from my house in Western PA. There's a TON of black bear scat on the dirt road inside the gameland. There's a pile about every hundred yards. several neighbors swear one of them goes 400 to 500 pounds. I know how rare the chance for a black bear attack is according to stats, but I'm still uneasy about walking in there in total darkness to get set up before starting time. There are also several different packs of aggressive coyotes, some bobcats (I was growled at by one hidden in a tree two weeks ago) and even some wild hogs that escaped from farms decades ago and have basically bred into full-tilt boar. I'm packing my P365 when carrying my crossbow, 22 mag and even the deer rifle. FMJ and JHP defensive are all I have right now. The FMJ is better than a sharp stick. I have the option of a 7-shot .357 mag or a 5-shot .44 mag, but they're not easily concealable, more weight, slower follow-ups and less rounds. I'll be getting some Buffalo Bore +P hard cast for the 9 soon. The game land is only 579 acres bordered by residential areas, but it's one of a large number of "reclaimed" strip mines and has been left to itself for more than a decade. I remember jogging up there and it being a working strip mine ten years ago. It only took less than ten years to turn into a great habitat and develop an interesting, and usually somewhat rare for this area, collection of wildlife. We're pretty fortunate to have quite a few state game lands within 20 minutes driving distance here. I've seen more deer all over the area so far this year than the past several years combined. Walked up on a 200+ pound nine point 10/4 and stood 11 yards behind it while it grazed. Biggest deer I've ever seen. Nothing I could do. I made the mistake of walking in with the crossbow on my back, un-cocked and empty. Never again. I don't care if my arms fall off, I'm going to be carrying the thing at the ready.
