I just made my reservation for an Elio this week.
I finally made my decision after watching the evolution of the Elio vehicle and its company for well over a year...mainly because my state won't require that pesky motorcycle license to drive it anymore. (Cheers for the "autocycle" designation!)
By way of introduction, I am in my late 20's and never managed to purchase a car. This is owing to the fact that my parents told me that I could either get a car, or I could go to college and afford to buy an even nicer car. Well, I went to college, earned my degree, and graduated right into the recession...and watched my chosen field of work vanish like a puddle of water on a hot day. Needless to say, the nice new car I had planned on buying was - and is - well out of my price range now.
That said, if the $6,800 price and high mpg rating remain true (as well as safety ratings, of course), the Elio will be the very first car I have owned. So, now I am in line with the rest of you patiently awaiting my official reservation number (which I hear can take up to six weeks to arrive).
