I agree with most everything you say about the Elio, but don't understand your comments regarding alternative energy to support options that reduce our dependency on foreign oil. The upside is that it does provide you with more affordable gas for your personal vehicle choices. Nobody is requiring you to buy EVs or use solar generated power which we may be using as we speak and not even realize it. Have you owned and or driven a Volt to review it as junk? Is the Volt junkier than any other GM vehicle? I wouldn't buy any GM product because I don't trust the brand. I know little about GM's Volt and their new Bolt concept, but I do know that the Tesla Motor's EV lineup is high performance and quality built. I'm seriously hoping the Elio won't be junk at a mere $6800.

Simple every Loan, hand out and grant this administration has handed out to solar power has been a scam. Prefect track record .
Why not take what would amount to a tiny amount of what they gave just one company and make a loan to ELIO.
Solar is a scam it only works if someone else picks up the tab for you.

We could debate that but would be a lose lose. The DOE Loan program for solar/energy is separate from the ATVM. The ATVM has a balance of $16 Billion which should cover Elio's loan request.

Elio is only working because someone else is picking up the tab for us, although it is a loan program not a giveaway. The Caddo Parrish incentives could be a giveaway but may end up an economy booster.

First my understanding is no cash from Caddo Parrish until there is a product and they know they will not lose on the deal. good idea on their part so many cities have gotten taken on these deals . Shows they are being careful.
I know the difference in the programs But it is still tax payer funds at risk no madder the name you put on it. Just because there is cash in the ATVM fund does not mean ELIO will see a penny of it. I hope they do if anyone should get a penny of it ELIO should be on top of the list.
The money handed over in the solar scams is gone never to be recovered, there never was a viable product. At least ELIO does offer a viable product and is asking for a loan guarantee not a hand out. Big difference.

You mean the ones that due to Chinese government subsidies of their own solar companies the price dropped by 80% and American companies couldn't compete and went under because we weren't as socialist as them?

No, I think he means the Chinese companies we paid off that never produced a single cell.

Feel free to tell me how solar works in a place where we've seen full sunshine 7 days since October. Those days, BTW are about 10 hours long on average up here.

Solar is a scam. Go hydro...oh wait, a fish might die...go nuke...ahh never mind. How about a cheap fossil fueled car?

Solar and Florida A match made in heaven?
Not- the State has just shot itself in the foot and taken away incentives to go solar!
what used to be a brake-even @ 12-14yrs, now make no financial sense.

Yes you have sun , but the cost of building and maintaining it will never be recovered . It can only work if someone else is paying a bit share of the cost. Just like passenger rail and hybrid cars. Someone else has to pay for it.

Colorado has 300 days of sunshine per year. And we are a lot higher than Florida; less atmosphere to scatter the sun. :)

"someone else" ALWAYS pays.
no kids in school, why do I as a SeniorCitizen have to pay?
no car, why should I pay for road repairs,?
grow my own food, why should I pay for FDA?
don't agree with 90% of government expenditures , gonna pay only 10% of my income tax?
We don't get to choose- that's why we buy the best politicians we can.
That someone else pays is us (pogo)
