Overall, I don't like to be lied too. But here is an exception. If there was a problem with the engine (didn't start, sounds horrible, blew up, isn't finished yet, etc) I do feel it was best to come up with this excuse and give no reschedule date.

I think admitting a major engine problem now would really hurt both Elios and IAV credibility.

I understand and agree.
We have had some "bits" of information that leave me confident that the Engine is 1) intact. 2) has been run successfully. 3) performed better than expected.
In a recent interview, PE also said that there are some NDA's in place that prevent them from telling us more. Some serious enough that, if they "got out", could jeopardize progress. I have no choice but to be patient. and I am comfortable with that.:)

I don't think I was liked to when I talked to Elio about this delay. IAV pre-empted Elio to deal with a major customer's emergency. What does it take to kill rumor and speculation around here? Jeez!

No exceptions for me. IAV is an established reputable business with a long list of accomplishments. The purpose for testing is to discover problems and fix them, certainly not a crediblity issue with either company.

Note: Interesting that IAV is 50% controlled by Volkswagen. Volkswagen was one of the first auto manufacturers to develop a production ready three wheeler in 2008 the GX3. They halted the GX3 due to possible safety and liability issues. The GX3 was followed up by 2 other enclosed cabin 2 seater VW concepts in 2010. I followed these concepts hoping one would have made it to production.
