Ty, it's long since buried in another thread, but the invention is real and it works and a company bought the rights to produce it, then found a major drawback that made it unsellable. Basically that after using the fumes to power the car, it reduced the remaining gasoline to a hydrocarbon sludge.

Has anyone thought about a test drive before ordering options so the ones with refundable can decide / the ones with non can legally get it back also if not satisfied before taking delivery as can the ones who can't qualify for financing or like the apr ?

I think we would all like to take a drive. I think the pre production cars should be taken to a stadium or large parking lot to let people with reservations and interested buyers have a go. They then can solidify what they want.

as for the non qualified buyers they should allow transference of spot or a hold till they are able to meet the financing. If for some reason I cant get financed I have a cosigner or a family member that can buy it under their name but it would be good if I could transfer my deposit and bonus to them. I also have a last ditch plan too. Come hell or high water I will have my Elio.

Take advantage of this time to save money towards your purchase. Do what ever you can to make that Elio yours. Yes, you may be able to have someone get it for you but then it isn't really yours. Knowing that you made the effort to save the money will mean more to you. Look at all your financial obligations and take care of them first. Then look at what you have left. Then decide what you really need. Are there things I want to buy? Of course there are. But if I don't NEED it then it goes behind my commitment to Elio. By getting that savings account you will improve your chances of getting financing because you will have proof to show you can discipline yourself to make this purchase. Good Luck. I have very low expenses. I am somewhat frugal. I am self employed (will be working full time soon again). My money makes me money so I have it out working for me. I don't have CC debts or car note. My car is paid for. I buy everything cash and always look for deals. I doubt I will have an issue with financing but like I said I have contingency's. I intend to have at least 40% of the total cost of the Elio cash money when the time comes.

I sent a question to Elio asking if my number comes up before my car comes off lease will they hold my spot until then. This seems to be along the same line as the question you are asking. I will let you know when and if I receive a reply.

I would feel less put out if Elio said: The Factory tour "Experience" will include: A. Hotel ; B. Transport ; C. Goodies ; D. Tour ; E. Elio. All @ $750. & no shipping charge.

Well, if Ms. Z is going to stay the course I will too. I talked to a couple who were driving those motorcycle three wheelers with FWD (like the Elio configuration) and they reported gas mileage was only in the mid to high 30 MPG range, very disappointed they were.
My wife is going all in at the $100.00 backet, we have to get a divorce because Elio won't let but one vehicle be reserved per household.

Motorcycle trikes including are geared more for performance as a bike rather than economy as a car or autocycle and really aren't very aerodynamic..
