Maybe. But I don't think so, I'm still thinking a couple more weeks though before they release the final engineering drawings that would verify the parts specs.

At about 6:00 on the press conference (link in #198) of this thread Paul says ...."As we speak, right now" there are engineers throughout Detroit detailing parts".....

I guess we shall see when month zero is soon enough, that would then clarify the timeline and give us some sense of where things are at.

Yes he said their detailing parts to have them manufactured. Maybe that does mean their timeline has started, I'm not clear what that means and then, when month 0 is....in their timeline.

Most parts are going to be "off the shelf" per Paul's prior statements.

Sure. But there are lots of parts that don't exist. Like for example a right motor mount for a transverse mounted Elio engine. Or the left upper A arm. Or the rear swing arm mount. Just bunches of little stuff that you don't think of as parts until you have to make 25 or more exact copies so it can be done on an assembly line.

Thanks. That's the quotation I remembered, but I couldn't recall the verb "detailing." I'm getting old.

I'm not at all sure they'll tell us the moment that construction on the e-cars begins. More likely trumpet "E-cars launched" about three or four weeks later. They got burned on the engine start, remember? So they are now twice cautious.

Does it mean they are building E#1?
Or does it mean they have started fabricating the identical custom parts which will be installed on the E series?
Kind of an iffy word in this context.

I think START in this case means that they have STARTED to count the money needed to launch (START) the plan to begin (START) building the E's at some future date. The reality is they need to actually FINISH and test the P5 before they START building the E's. There needs to be a finalized detailed custom parts list before they can START fabricating the custom parts needed for the E's.
