So you think that Elio is a pig in a sack? Or am I reading you wrong?
Well in terms of investment, Elio actually is pig in a poke. You're putting in a specified amount of money for something of absolutely unspecified value. Best possible definition of the pig in a poke.

This has nothing to do with the validity of the project or the value of the car. I believe in both of those or I wouldn't be here. But strictly as an investment in which you expect to realize some gain on the money you spend, it's a world-class pig in a poke.

By the way, the word poke has the same root as pocket. A pig in a poke was concealed in a purse or sack. So you had no idea what was actually in there. So that's where the phrase comes from.

EKH, great explanation! Yup, we don't know the outcome of the whole Elio project but since we're pretty sure it is a "pig" in that sack we're as comfortable as we can be in this situation. It's just depends on how you view investing in something that is less than a sure thing. It may be a great product but is it a sure thing? Sometimes you just have to take a risk to move things forward.

When I looked this morning StartEngine was showing 93%.
About half an hour later it was showing $22,009,750 and 88% and 5709 res.
Then half an hour later it was showing $22,109,750 and 88% and 5713 res.
Strange how it increments by four.
Also strange that that averages $25,000 each which under the rules would mean 4 people with $250,000 incomes.
Wonder if they are trying to mess with Elio or Start Engine?

I think some people, very few, realize the investment of Elio has benefits to them selves in other places.
There are a number of windfalls on this one. But example is a bit more direct if anyone would realize it.
The airlines, at least some anyway. As fuel prices hang lower, the airlines without fuel contracts, are making huge profits. The Elio is a factor that will help control fuel volatility and hold the price lower. Yes, other world issues may hold more sway,, but it's just one more factor in the mix when the Elio comes out.
Anyway, all things considered, any business benefiting from what the Elio does for the public, and in turn their own business, should consider it.

Thanks, makes perfect sense.

Yes, they are, constantly. It's making it impossible for the public to tell exactly when the actual goal will be completed. We're depending on SE or EM to note that. On the other hand, the longer the door stays open, the more 'real' investors get involved.
So, I for one am not as worried about the whole process. And each real dollar put in will have some good karma attached to it. It's all good.

I agree. I feel much more confident with StartEngine doing it's due diligence. The average pledge is now $3871.xx which is more in line with what I envision the Elio crowd to be. Makes me feels like it's now real money being pledged.

we all know that there are "people" (a deliberate effort to stay out of the gutter and call them exactly what they are) out there whose mission in life is to do what is necessary to disrupt the progress of EM .... I have no doubt that they are highly motivated and committed to their mission .... fortunately, I tend to believe that they are few in number .... Start Engine does seem to be frustrating their efforts, frankly, I hope they become highly frustrated
