Congrats Ty and Lily. My kids call my wifes grandmother Big Grandma. I know you were contemplating what your name would become. It's been my experience with my kids, they will call you what they will. My mom and dad forced their name as Mama and Poppa. But stepdad became grandpa, Dads significant other became Poppa Jim, wifes parents became Grandma and Grandpa. Hell even aunts and uncles naturally get named... Nini, Schell, Bobo, Bubby, and I became Monster for my nieces and nephews. Its a great, personalization as it happens. Enjoy the new addition, and again congrats.

Ty Welcome to grandparenthood!

In my grandsons world there were/are great grandmothers - GG (passed last year at 97) GGen ( passed just before Thanksgiving at 94) DeeDee ( my mom ) still kicking at 85. Only Great grandfather they knew was just Grandpa (passed 2 1/2 years ago at 85.) Grandparents - Poppop, ShuShu, DB and me, I'm just Grandma. They have no relationship with their maternal grandfather and his wife.

I informed my daughters that there children WOULD call me Grandfather SIR. (just to pick on them). Kept that up till the first grandson wanted to be picked up and he said "Grump". ( grandfather up). Grump stuck. Now I only hear Grandfather Sir if the grandsons want something really bad.

My granddaughter is 4; I'm "gampa can I have some candy?" (I always have Swedish Fish in my pocket, or on the coffee table) Donna (my 4th wife, not related to daughter or granddaughter) is gamdon
She has never met her mothers mom (my daughter flat refuses to have anything to do with her, and I can't blame her); she met her dad's mom and dad when she was really young 1 and 2 and not since; my daughter is a widow so granddaughter doesn't really remember dad.
