Elio And Gas Prices

We put 190 miles on the car last week, but we went to see the grandsons which added 90 miles normaly not driven. (I didn't drive the truck last week. ) The mileage between city and highway was almost equal. At roughly 33 MPG combined driving that equals 5.76 gals. Elio should get 65 MPG combined that would have been 2.92 gals @ $3.25 per gal, we would have saved $9.23 last week. Normal week the savings would be $3.65. That may not seem like much but if my wife drives the Elio and I drive the car instead of the truck the savings will be even more.

A lot of us will driving more when we can afford it. My wife says that since I'm retired I really don't need a car. Well for some reason I'm putting $200.00 a month in a car I don't need. She seems to forget everyones free taxi.

324 miles on the Z71..... 60$ in gas , would have been 14$ in the Ellio (and I derated it to 75mpg for my loop) So 46 Dollars extra for me in one week!

Me too on that one. LOL I hesitate to take little side trips in my Camry even though it gets 30mpg. Instead I am saving that money to increase my down payment on my Elio. :-) Z

At around (350 miles/week*$3.40/gallon)/22Miles/gallon = $55/week. Assuming Regular instead of Premium and 65MPG for the Elio (350miles/week*$3.17)/65miles/gallon=$18/week, so I'd save around $37/week, or $1930/year.

Sadly the shorter the commute, the less you save, but it will still probably be over $500 a year in gas money saved for me. I'll take it!

77 miles a day to work and back, = 385 miles. Went to Clarksville Saturday, another 450 miles, to Rutledge on Sunday, another 80 miles. 915 miles on one week. about 50 gallons of fuel at 18 mpg. close to $200 spent . could have been 11 gallons of fuel, at $44. I need the Elio..
