Oops, let's try that again!

Actually, putting our all in $$ was contingent on the accessibility of the back seat and my wife had the final say. Needless to say, it passed and she's not a big fan of cars that ride lower to the ground. It wasn't perfect but close enough for her to give the okeydokey.

Mind you, it probably won't be a perfect fit, but make sure you allow some lee way. There is always a gap between what is real and what is ideal. It would be a shame to pass on it because it doesn't fit exactly to specs you've set up in your mind. On the other hand, if you have to have it at a certain height or it just plain wouldn't work for you, you better listen to your body. You might end up with a $6800 status symbol sitting in your drive way waiting for one of those few good days when you can skooch in and out the door!

I'm a bit concerned about that back seat. My wife is very claustrophobic, and with limited views ahead and to either side, she might just freak out on longer trips. With the tandem seating, I'm never out of range.

I'm thinking I'll drive solo back from S'port when I take delivery, and we'll start our touring season with some 30 minute trips down to the Kemah Boardwalk for lunch. The promise of outstanding seafood on arrival will be her incentive. Maybe a glass or two of wine before the return trip is indicated. ;)

It's a problem with my wife too! She has joked about going into training by standing in our coat closet and then work her way down to a smaller area. It'll never happen! So it will be a combination solution. We're hoping for the "van windows" as an option for the back and also some tenative short "training rides" but will probably end up with her driving until she gets too tired and then swap out and she'll sleep while I drive. I want it to work out so she enjoys the ride, so if it means time in the back for me, so be it! It will be time together on the road, that's what counts!

My wife sat in the backseat and when she got out she said, "I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun with this."
Our plan is for me to pick up my Elio at Shreveport, drive down to New Orleans where we will meet up after her flight from Los Angeles. After a few days she will fly home and I'll take a leisurely cross country trip back to California.
Life can be good sometimes...
