Triumph, a co. hving a history greater than hrdly ableson itself wont endorse hauling a trailer, why wud Elio. It is your constitutional right to move about freely; without encomeberances. Geta pair of your own!I would think Elio would be protected against lawsuits, as they've stated clearly they don't recommend pulling a trailer!
This is the completed P4 chassis.

While I believe that a class I or II receiver could be easily and securely installed/attached to the frame pictured above, and while I also believe that it would not (at least when not carrying a passenger) exceed the Elio's load capacity, mounting would require significant modification to the tail wheel cover. The receiver would need to extend outboard if mounted/attached below the frame loop and if mounted/attached above, would quite like exit in the licence plate area - one or the other strategy would be necessary so as not to foul the rear wheel travel. I can also see how it could be done with three attachment points to the Elio frame and a fully external "horseshoe" incorporating the receiver. This, however, would increase the moment arm and decrease stability and load capability. It would also increase weight and cost. The very short trailer attachment point to contact patch dimension is why I think that it is quite possible to safely tow a trailer approaching the weight of the Elio - with care, of course. Unfortunately, I would at this point have to advise folks to wait. A clean and elegant factory solution will be forthcoming, I'm sure - but probably not on this particular model.
