So Harley Trike owner's are riding or driving? Do they go on a ride or a drive to the Sturgis Bike Rally?
After some thought (and a hearty lunch), I think the key concept is, "Are the driver and passengers enclosed, or open?" If enclosed (including the floor), then it's driving; if it's open-air, then it's riding.

The Gen 8 mule is 1,023 lbs. We are targeting 1,000 lbs. for the production version.
Many states (including our launch markets of Oregon and California) don't require a MC endorsement, and states that do require one allow you to take the test using the SRK. If you happen to live in a state that requires special licensing, it's going to be a great enough ride that it'll be worth going to the DMV and taking the test so that you can ride it.
We'll certainly work with lawmakers around the country to normalize the requirements because really it takes almost no time to get the hang of riding -- if you know how to ride a bicycle you will be instantly familiar with the operation of the SRK. This lobbying effort will be best engaged when we can actually sit lawmakers in the drivers seat to experience it for themselves.

Thanks for answering all our questions on your vehicle. We never get this much attention from a 'maker'. And I think we are loving it!

The question from a government point of view is unanswered for many mixes of attributes.
Private 'automobiles' (PA), (both highway and urban) have a manifest of items required. Now with the Autocycle you have a new manifest. And motorcycles have yet another.
By default if you are missing items from the PA or Autocycle list you are a motorcycle(if street legal). Very few times do the formal definitions actually deal with the idea of ridding vs sitting, driving vs balancing. Mostly are defined just by the hardware involved. However, it does get quite debatable on some of these mixes, maybe like this one;
Having steering bars with a laid-back seat and 5 point belt, power controlled tilting, 4 wheels and no windshield or top, 90% of a body but no doors. Few would know what that would be. Probably the biggest default of all, off-road only and not street legal.
Any-who my point is, it doesn't much mater to most of us, since these odd mixes are rarely used. Elio has, however, changed what is considered rare adding a decidedly Sitting-Driving definition.

Yes, I know I'm loving it and appreciate Mark sharing his knowledge gained from the SRK Gen1-8. The SRK Gen 8 has evolved into what will end up an incredibly fun(ctional) and affordable everyday electric commuter. Thanks Mark!

Just like USS Constitution; Old Ironsides wasn't a tough ship because it was rigid. I was thinking that in a side impact, the autocycle will have more lateral movement than a heavier vehicle with more rubber on the ground. I guess we'll know rather soon.

I certainly hope not ... :crutch:

Just to make sure credit is given where it's due...
IMO, To say that we never get this much attention from a 'maker' isn't exactly true.
Paul and his crew have been very attentive to our needs where and when possible.

And yes, thank you for the information and conversation.
I'm loving it also. :thumb:

Yes, a lot of fan interaction on EM's Facebook Page and at the various tour stops, however, I think Paul should chime in for some live chat on Elio Owners too.

that would be great but ain't gonna happen any time soon ..... I've been told that a good while back a top member of EM was active on this forum .... once word got out haters jumped in made things miserable for him and most of our members as well .... the reality is, the only thing that will silence the haters/doubters is a steady stream of trikes rolling off the line .... until then there is no way Paul or anyone else in top management could expect a positive outcome .... even supportive members would hound them for details on funding, program development, the Elign, etc, etc to where things wouldn't go well

Third wheel down.............driving !!!

Are you a Harley owner in your third wheel down opinion of riding or driving?

In looking at the Arcimoto Gen 8 test drive photo it appears that Frohnmyer is riding a motorcycle. He is steering with handlebars and positioned in the seat as you would be on any ride. He certainly doesn't look to be driving.

Nathan Fillion appears to be driving this previous Gen SRK with the steering wheel.

Handle bar steering 2 or three wheels riding!
