I was surprised to see the road teams favored for the 2 Monday night games. Naturally, both home teams won. It's TOUGH to win on the road in the NFL. See the Packers win at Chicago, Miami's win at Washington. But how 'bout them 49ers and them Falcons? Nice wins to both teams.

Week 2 is upon us like an Elio fan asking about the side the gas port will be on. Broncos at Chiefs on Thursday night, hoping it will be a good game and a victory for my Chiefs!

Other games that look competitive at first glance:
  • Patriots @ Bills
  • Chargers @ Bengals
  • Falcons @ Giants
  • 49ers @ Steelers
  • Texans @ Panthers (I think Houston will give them a good game)
  • Cowboys @ Eagles
  • Sun night game: Seahawks at Packers
0-1 teams in danger of going 0-2: Texans, Buccaneers, Vikings, Bears, Browns, Redskins, Jaguars, Raiders, Seahawks.

Quietly cheering for Chiefs and Bills. Tyrod Taylor just needs a chance to keep playing.

Plus I think it's cool how the Chiefs are scoring with out using wideouts.

sat up and watched all of both games .... this morning I'm wondering why ???? .... both games provided flashes of good play but for the most part, it was pretty much ho-hum
Come on! At least the Falcons game swapped the lead a couple of times late in the fourth quarter... The Eagles could have gone ahead but missed a field goal. Then, the Falcons just had to kill the clock but sudden pressure inside the offensive line enabled the Eagles to tackle behind the lines on 3rd and 2... Which meant the Falcons had to punt it away with a little over a minute left and an Eagles offense that had suddenly gotten hot and couldn't miss a pass. moments later, the Eagles threw their first interception of the season ending a potential drive for the winning score!

all that's true .... I like watching a game where two fairly even teams are fighting it out to win .... except for an occasional effort by one or two players, they seemed to be floating along waiting for a mistake from the other team

True. My favorite games are where the losing team has the ball and a chance to win it at the end but then something happens. Then, the now smug leading team has the ball and has to run a couple of plays but they screw up and turn the ball over and the trailing team runs it back for the win. An alternate is that the trailing team has the ball and has a good play where everyone puts in max effort and pulls out the win anyway.

The year the Falcons went to the Superbowl and beat Minnesota was sort of like that ... chance to win, Falcons miss field goal. Chance to win, Minnesota misses field goal. Chance to win (again), Falcons make field goal.

Yeah, on the media enjoying focusing on the whole "can't believe KC hasn't thrown at TD to a WR since 2013" thing... it may be surprising, but it's overblown. It's really not that important. The goal is to win football games, that's #1. Yes, Alex Smith only threw 18 TDs last year. But he also only threw 6 INTs. For QBs with more than 400 pass attempts, only Aaron Rodgers threw fewer INTs.

I think a bigger deal for the Chiefs offense is to get big plays, and if big plays come from a pass to a WR, then that's great. But they can also come from a pass to a TE or an RB, or a run from an RB, a QB, or a WR.

What was the difference last year in pts scored vs pts allowed for KC? +72 over 16 games, good for about 9th of 32 teams. Doesn't show a burning need to get more pts.

Chiefs have a great RB to catch passes, Jamaal Charles, and have a great TE to catch passes, Travis Kelce. If the newly acquired Jeremy Maclin can stay healthy, he'll have a TD catch by the end of week 4.

We have a bet going but it's not paid out till after Super Bowl and it's the whole year record.
I'm getting tired of losing

No, I'm not going to discuss the bet
