It was a crazy Sunday in the NFL, very entertaining and lots of surprises:

Det 18, GB 16: Detroit had not won in GB since 1991, something like that? Rodgers threw the ball 61 times, get that man an ice bag or 3. I watched the last part of the 4th qtr, and it just looked like GB couldn't run the ball. 18 rushes for 47 yds for the game. Stafford played better than he has, 242 yds / 2 TD / 1 INT and 0 sacks. Det actually rushed for LESS yds than GB, 26 rushes for 45 yds. GB was good on 3rd down, 9-19, won the turnover battle 0-1, and had 2 more penalties. Det missed 2 PAT kicks in the game, and was up 18-16 when GB lined up for an onside kick. Megatron jumps up to catch it, and it goes right through his hands, GB recovers. Packers got the ball to the Det 34, so they lined up for a 52-yd FG to win it for the last play of the game. Crosby kicked the ball low, and I couldn't tell if a Det player got his hand on the ball or not, but it was no good, Lions win. GB is 6-3 and has lost 3 in a row.

KC 29, Den 13 - Oh my, I'm happy about this game. Yes, Manning didn't look right this game, and he was leading the NFL in INTs coming in, and since he threw 4 more in about 2 1/2 qtrs, I'm going out on a limb without checking, he's still got the lead for most INTs. Now we hear he had plantar fasciitis (sp?) before the game, and it's torn now. So if you're coach Kubiak going into the game, do you put a hurt 39-yr old Manning out there that's leading the NFL in INTs, or do you go with a healthy rookie that can actually run and move if needed? I know, hindsight is 20-20. Chiefs offense did not look that effective to me, but they were given a short field so many times, only 1 or 2 first downs were needed, kick a FG, go play defense. Alex Smith again ran the ball well, 6 for 33 yds. 2 sacks for Denver, 5 for KC. Cairo Santos had as many FGs as Manning did pass completions: 5. With a long TD pass toward end of game, Charcandrick West had a total of 161 yds of offense. KC had 6 more penalties but that was obviously offset by winning in turnovers 0-5. Denver is 7-2 and has lost 2 in a row.

Buf 22, NYJ 17 - The road team party continues as yet another road team that was not favored gets the divional win. First Det, then KC, now Buf. Both the Bills and the Jets ran the ball well, but Buf wins in turnovers 0-4. Buf actually only had FIVE penalties! LOL that's pretty low for them. Both teams are now 5-4.

Dal 6, TB 10 - In the yawner game of the week, the Bucs get their fourth win of the year. Cassel's numbers were not good: 186 yds / 0 TD / 1 INT / 3 sacks. Winston's were a little better but not much: 264 yds / 0 TD / 2 INT / 2 sacks. Plus he fumbled the ball has he launched himself toward the goal line late in the 4th qtr, and dropped the ball before crossing the goal line. Lucky for him, a Dal DB was cited for holding, and TB got the ball 1st and goal on the 1 yd line. Otherwise, Dal recovered the fumble and they would've got the win, 6-3. Next play, Winston runs it in and is the hero. I dunno why Dallas gets so much media attention, hopefully the media will focus elsewhere now that Dal is 2-7. Bucs are 4-5.

Car 27, Ten 10 - It was 14-10 Car at half, but Ten did not score again. Mariota's passing numbers were bad, but he did have more rushing yds than Cam (24-23). Despite Ten sacking Newton 5 times, Cam was 21-26 for 217 yds with 1 TD / 0 INT. Car ran the ball well, Ten not so much. Car won in turnovers 0-2. Panthers move to 9-0.

Chi 37, StL 13 - It was 10-10 at the end of the 1st qtr, and Chi outscores StL on the road 27-3 the rest of the game. Cutler was sacked twice but his numbers were excellent: 19-24 for 258 yds / 3 TD / 0 INT. Chi ran the ball much better than StL. 3rd down efficiency and turnovers were even, but the Rams had 4 more penalties. Both teams are 4-5.

NO 14, Was 47 - Here was finally a game where I thought the road team would win, and they got smashed. The Saints can't stop wet toilet paper unfortunately, I believe this makes 12 straight qtrs that they've allowed the opponent to score. Saints' offensive numbers look above avg, but they couldn't stop the Redskins. Cousins had a huge game, 20-25 for 324 yds / 4 TD / 0 INT / 3 sacks. As a team, Was had 213 rushing yds. Saints had 2 more turnovers and 2 more penalties than the 'Skins. Both teams now have 4 wins.

Mia 20, Phi 19 - Yet another road team gets the win. Bradford got hurt for the Eags, Sanchez came in and did ok, but threw a red zone INT with 4:32 remaining, and the Dophins held on to get the 'W'. For being sacked 4 times, Tannehill had good numbers: 217 yds / 2 TD / 0 INT. Mia ran the ball a little bit better, was not as good on 3rd down, and had 1 more penalty. But Mia won in turnovers 0-1. Both teams are 4-5. (So are about a dozen other teams!)

Cle 9, Pit 30 - It was 21-3 Pit at half and the Steelers coast to the victory. Landry Jones started at QB but got hurt early, so in comes a not-quite healthy Roethlisberger and lights up the Browns defense for 379 yds / 3 TD / 1 INT / 1 sack. Manziel's numbers were good, 372 yds / 1 TD / 1 INT, but he was sacked 6 times. Pitt didn't run the ball well, but Cle was pathetic: 14 rushes, 15 yds. Manziel led the team with 17 yds. Cle lost in turnovers 3-2 and had 7 more penalties. Pitt is 6-4.

Jax 22, Bal 20 - ANOTHER road team wins as an underdog. This was quite an interesting game ending: it's Bal leading 20-19 with 14 seconds left, Jax has the ball on 4th down and 4 at the Bal 49 yd line, Bortles is sacked for Jax by a Bal def lineman, but the Bal player grabs the QB's face mask. If no penalty, the game is over, Bal wins. But with the penalty, Jax gets the ball at the Bal 35. 53-yd FG attempt. It's good, the Jags win 22-20. Jax is 3-6.

Min 30, Oak 14 - Yep, a road team wins. Bridgewater's numbers are unimpressive: 140 yds / 1 TD / 0 INT / 4 sacks. But Minny ran for 263 yds. Adrian Peterson ran for 203. Carr threw 2 TDs / 2 INTs for Oak. The Raiduhs were good on 3rd down but had 5 more penalties. The Vikings are 7-2 and look like they are for real.

NE 27, NYG 26 - The road team wins again. This game was back and forth and quite exciting. Both Brady's and Manning's numbers were excellent, but Manning's were a little better. Neither team ran for more than 80 yds, but you wouldn't expect that with these two offenses. Giants led 17-10 at half. In the 3rd qtr they went up 20-10, but here come the Patriots. They went up 24-23 with 11:33 to go. The Giants intercept Brady and get a FG to go up 26-24 with 1:47 left. The experts were heard saying after this game, you can't give Tom Brady that much time. Well, he had no timeouts. But that didn't matter. Gostkowski booms one in from 54 yds away, and NE wins. NE is 9-0, Giants are 5-5.

AZ 39, Sea 32 - Certainly you'd think that the Seahawks had a chance to utilize home-field advantage! The 12th man! Right?! Wrong. AZ put up 22 pts in the 2nd qtr. It was 25-23 AZ after the first play of the 4th qtr, but it was all AZ after that. 3rd down efficiency: Sea 1-8, AZ 8-17. Ouch. Penalties: Sea 14, AZ 9. Sea did win in turnovers 1-3, but Palmer for AZ went for 363 yds / 3 TD / 1 INT / 3 sacks. Wilson had 292 of the 343 yds of Seattle offense. And he had only 14 pass completions and 18 incompletions. Seattle falls to 2-2 at home and 4-5 overall. Cardinals are 7-2.
