My opinion is aerodynamics had nothing to do with it, just a design decision. If that is what they were after why are they raising the roof 2 inches.
Anyway my money is on that no one will tell any difference in MPG with either fender.
Any wind tunnel test out there?

I showed my son ( 18yr old) a pic. of the two and asked which one he likes better. He is not into cars for more than transportation. He liked the P4 wheels better, saying they looked more futuristic and go better with the car than the P3 open wheel which has a retro look to it......

I hate the new fenders, they look like over kill, this is not what I paid $1,000 for, this takes the stream line look away from the Elio makes it to bulky, if dirt gets on my roof I can just add mud flaps or I can wash it off!! when I pick my Elio up it had better have the fenders on it that I have paid for!!! where I can still see my tires. I want the solid color not a to tone ether I went all in for the lime green and I do not want any thing else!!! come on Elion motors get real stop messing up a great car, you are going from great to crappy, stop changing this car the lights are awesome but you do not need to change anything else. if we want to change our cars just give us the option to do so, THANK YOU........... foxeys_fox
You damn right. The reason I dropped $1000 was for the one that doesn't look like a coffin and the full ugly fender and the other ugly headlight on the hood.Look what what they did to it now. Also lately I read that the price is with manual gear only & they want an additional 1K for the automatic, then another 700 to 1000 for shipping.Plus all the others they showed us on the tee shirt is extra money.

Foxeys_fox, welcome to the forum, the repository of information about the development and production of the Elio. I hope you have been following the forum because if you have you will know that the P3 style fenders are options. We try to keep the forum informative and entertaining and look forward to your questions, comments, and opinions.

The Elio fenders seem like an ass-magnet to me; so tempting to sit on or leana against. I asked Elio how string they were in such situations, and they advise against it, which is all well and good, but aside from adding spikes to each, or a NO STEP sign, it doesn't seem like practical advice.

There's also the qeestion of snow on the fenders. The worst in my area is sometimes 4 feet in a weekend, wet and heavy.

Some of you have trikes or cars old enough to have real fenders similar to the Elio in backside temptation. How do you cope with this?

No, don't put a sticker telling people not to do it! That's actually more like an encouragement to a goodly section of the population. You know, instead of looking and acting in a responsible way it more like, "Mmmm, I wonder how much weight I can put on this before I can damage it?" I think it is going to be one of those possible pitfalls that comes with a car built around a budget. I hadn't really thought of that question either. Well done, SR!
