Trust in American seems to have gone out the window. Everyday you hear one thing from the government, a business or etc just to have it turn the other direction. When the price ($6800.00 and 84MPG) is PUT IN YOU FACE as much as Elio puts it out there I'm expecting $6800.00 and 84MPG.
On there web site and all the TV interviews I've seem I haven't heard them say we hope it's $6800.00. Sure I may have missed it when they said it once but if they said it once that means all there other Web. and Interviews about the price is a lie.
I never like going in a store and finding the price of an item is more than they have advertise. Elio should keep with what they tell you.
It's not the extra money (well, for some it is) It's all about being honest with your customers. Up front and being honest will get more sales and satisfied customers for years and years.

It's a goal post estimate.....target specs........a dream........not a promise and or false advertising. Maybe The final specs will exceed expectations. It's a work in progress. In '09 the Elio dream estimate was $7300.......74 mpg......hell it actually lowered.

I don't get the comparisons of the Elio to motorcycles...you can't ride a motorcycle in the snow or rain (well, you could, but who the he!! wants to?)

Hey Grampi,

The Elio is federally classified as a motorcycle. It has less than 4 wheels, so that's what the Feds say. Having bought my first motorcycle about a year ago, and learning as much as I can about motorcycles, that's about where the similarity to a motorcycle ends. :-)

But, because it's classified as a motorcycle, there are benefits to be had, at least on this date: HOV lanes, lower insurance and registration costs.

Also, based on information on this forum, there are a lot of folks interested in the Elio that have been/are currently/will soon be motorcycle riders. So there's an apparent appeal to the motorcycle masses for the Elio.

Well its not that expensive its the same part that the Suzuki Celerio has in India. So it must be in an acceptable price range. Its not like it will get the exact same part as a Ferrari 458 Italia and its associated price tag.

Wow! Just the thought of Elio and Ferrari using the same part, that's not off the shelf, it's off the wll.

I was thinking on how that $6800.00 number came about. Not $6900, not $7000 not $6700.

and will they actually be able to deliver a vehicle at $6800?

inflation and delays make this harder and harder as every day passes by.

You cannot buy a new Motorcycle for $6800. so how disappointed would you be if they missed that mark?
Hello, I figure after tax, license, shipping, other local taxes and a few up-grades, realistically your probably looking at about $8000-$9000 out the door. I suppose if your looking just for a commute vehicle only, then probably $8000. with no automatic transmission and upgrades. This is by no means solid information, just a ball park figure based on my previous car buying.

Hi and welcome from Oregon, Val. Did you see the Elio when it was in Sacramento? It is great to see so many new people jumping right in on the conversations. I look forward to reading more from you in the future. :-) Z
