If the Elio were to be made, it would be shocking. But being #2108 I feel that I along with all others have been taken by a very clever, deceitful man/company. Should have given that "Un-refundable" a second thought BEFORE the money was sent. I wonder if the original purchaser dies, does their descendants get their place in line or does the monies just go into the pockets of the 'company'?

Looking 10 or 20 years ahead?

Yep, you should have read the disclaimers a bit closer, and looked at the SEC disclosures if they were available at the time you forked over the money. It's no big deal if you could afford it and understood from the beginning that the odds of production were essentially zero.

The promises never matched the reality, even from the beginning. Once the SEC filings came out, there was no excuse for sending in reservation money. The Reg A stock investment never made sense as an investment, but it was a reasonable speculative short-term gamble.

There were a number of true believers who made enough money on paper to pay for their reservations, or even the whole vehicle. Some cashed out their profits, but others rode the stock back down to a loss.

People who did the research and recommended keeping your money were called trolls and haters. As usual, fear and greed won out. Fear of missing the next great thing, and greed to be the first in line. Worked out about like giving in to fear and greed usually works out.

The real problem were the lies. First lie was it would be out in the next year (after the monies sent) by July, then April, then December, then, then.. The cash wasn't the problem, the lies were. Seen the prototype at a showing in Knoxville. People laughing, joking, and sitting in it. Then..then... NOTHING! $1000 isn't going to break me, hell I spend more on guns.... It the bald face lies that really piss me off... If this is the way a CEO of a company treats his investors, I'll take vanilla... My 2¢ feel free to make it your own...
All the statements made by startups that I’ve followed over the years while having reservations on their concepts, to include my refundable deposit on the Elio, were followed by Forward Looking Statements (FLS) indicating no guarantee of delivery. Apparently many reservationists didn’t read the FLS or take the FLS into account when calling those statements lies.

‘Forward Looking Statements’ are just protected ‘talk.’ What counts is bona fide attempts at follow thru. I don’t see much, if any, evidence of that. I think Paul and Hari relied on the concept to be appreciated, but stopped pursuing any manufacturing goals when the money was pouring in anyhow.
